For my sins I have AOL as my broadband provider.

For ages now at bang on midnnight (or 1.00am depending on clock changes) AOL goes offline!!

My Internet Explorer is fine?

I guess one answer may be why are you using AOL:ROFLMAO:but I have been on it for years and worry I would lose too many contacts in changing my e-mail address.

Any thoughts ........... please.

Suggest that for longer term benefits you think about getting a genetal e-mail address with google or yahoo for example - there are lots of benefits anyway including:
don't have to worry about changing ISP
don't have to worry about being invaded by spammers - if you are just start again
can use different e-mail addresses for different things - eg work / family / chat sites

THEN - when you've re-established e-mail contacts at new address
DITCH AOL :ROFLMAO::winky:

or - switch to Firefox
Link Removed

I predicted this answer!! I just hoped there is maybe a simple fix to the AOL issue. Ultimately I know AOl has to go ...................... but I like to keep things simple!

hi we just changed our provider from aol took a while but if you just go on search engine type in aol its free not lost any of my contacts etc etc if you have aol browser installed on laptop or home it doesnt change so you can still use the aol browser cant work out why we were paying them / useing sky now and can use sevrel browsers but aol one still has email address no change still has favorites contacts etc so its not a problem

I too have used AOL for years: hardly ever any problems with it but they do have on-line and 'phone help available so it may be wise to try them..........

or you could just go to bed earlier.:roflmto:

"genetal" young lady? What did they teach you in those Redcar night clubs? Don't you mean "generic"? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

and predictable too, apologies to redjumpa but everyone I know who've tried AOL have given up in frustration - sooner or later - and I figure that sooner is simpler:thumb:
I am serious about trying firefox though

Hello jumpa
I'm on aol, and mine used to do it to, but I've upgraded to AOL 9.0 and it doesn't do it now!

Hi 2bob

I'm om broadband (not sure how new though?) been on it about two years, is there a new version out?

hi i also am on aol new version is" aol9 vr " same as aol9 but vista ready
i use opera search engine and an opera e mail address
saves your last viewed page when closed handy when looking for stuff.:thumb:

also internet explorer on my lappy use that when router plays up::bigsmile:

also firefox just easy straightforward search.:thumb:

also google chrome only just put it on not sure about it yet.

and safari(i tunes)not got i pod but stores tunes on the puter

all these can be downloaded by putting names in search bar
or the google bar

my understanding with broadband you are always on line
when the puter is on
any one of the above search engines are available

you just double click whichever browser icon
few seconds then your online
bit quicker than aol
if you want to view aol emails just search aol
log on to email
enter screen name and password
only time i lost service in 5-6 years was twice this year
when the phone cable too 500 houses was stolen in april and october
before you ask it was an underground one
