Anyone with kids under 2 (1 Viewer)

Only had our MH for a couple of months , our first one , we have our 22 month old son in a good bedtime routine at home , he's in bed around 7.30pm and usually sleeps till 6am ish , at home we can watch tele ect until we go to bed .
So those if any have young children , how do you work it when going away ?
The few times we've been away the weather hasn't been great , or there isn't anything to do on site so we usually lay on the bed either on our phones , or put the tv on quiet , when we went to whitemead with the bar we were there until 9 ish until he had enough and screamed to go to bed !
So what do others do , how do you spend the rest of the evening.
We seem to have a more enjoyable evening when staying at home , and its spoiling what should be fun times away.
The few times we've been away we haven't travelled far from the site , went to cardigan friday and my mrs followed in our car , so we could get out and about , but our trip was cut short as our boy was coughing like a dog , so had to take him to the hospital for a check up , and was given steroids as he has croup.
So now were back I'm starting to wonder if MHing is for us , and we'd be better off waiting until they he is older , and with another baby due in November I'm guessing it's only going to get harder .

So anyone in the same boat offer any advise , or recommendations

We have 2 grandkids who have lived with us since birth. Now aged 16 and 14 (still here ).
Both travelled with us in UK and Europe since they were old enough to sit in a car seat. In the UK we mainly attended rallies (motorcaravanners club at the time). We found there was more opportunity to socialise and keep the little ones occupied. We only really did campsites when abroad.
Happy days and we have camping friends who have seen the kids grow up over the years.
At 22 months it is hard to keep kids occupied whatever situation you are in. With a new born it's going to be even harder. Can't give much more advise except we feel blessed for the time we have all spent together and I think it has helped my grandkids to become very social young people.

All of ours have been in the van since day one. We used to have an inflatable baby bath that we used although all too often they ended up in the sink for a bed-time bath. Ours were always pretty knackered out after long days in the country air and all that but it's hard to convince them it's their bedtime when all the older children on a campsite are still running around and playing. I can probably draw a map of most campsites layouts we visited in those early days as i've walked around them seemingly millions of times pushing prams.....

Once they were off to sleep we were pretty happy to be around the van and enjoy the peace and quiet with a cup of tea, we tend to go to bed pretty early anyway , maybe one of us would walk the dogs and have another cup of tea

Now they are all teenagers they stay up later than we do

The weather always plays a part. We used to take our kids to France and Spain even when they were about 6 months old. We would spend most of the time outside in the warmth. Hours spent on large beaches running wild. Recently took our grandkids aged 18 months and 5 to Wirral for two nights. Good weather and it went well. Then progressed to 3 nights at Chirk, weather was bad and youngest wouldn't sleep. Intention was to progress to 5 nights at Coniston but we cancelled it and decided to leave it until next year. As stated its sometimes down to the weather and how settled kids are.

Were off to Cotswold farm park in 2 weeks , so plenty to do , will be taking our car as well so we can go out and about , so will see how we go

We have took ours and also fostered kids from babies who have all come along.

They soon get used to the noise going on and if they don’t, they fall asleep eventually.

We used a combination of bed guards, Moses baskets, fold up cots, whatever suited at that particular time. Not worrying too much is the key, it can be stressful but they all sleep eventually.

Having had lots of fun caravanning with four exuberant young children - the thought of doing this in the motorhome without a car fills me with horror, can just about manage one grandchild at a time now. Of course those were the days….!!!

We just used a backpack carrier and pushchair, or both at the same time, or shortened the walks.

It takes time for some kids and parents to get used to changes in routines and environments but we have really enjoyed spending time travelling and holidaying in our campervans with our kids.
