My motorhome hasn't had a wash in 6 months - it's filthy!
Just wondering if any one has used a Snow Foam lance to clean their Motorhome and what were the results? What foam solution did you use?

Using snow foam did seem to make it easier but my opinion is that the output of the pressure washer needs to be kept so far away from the coachbuilt joints and seals, that afterwards you will want to wash it again!
The car washers really blast and use alkali traffic film removers which I don't think are compatible with aluminium bodies
Just my opinion

I use Elite Car Care’s own brand and like it, yes you still need to wash after using it but it takes a lot of grit off before you do.

I used Auto Glym Polar Blast on mine which has not been touched over the winter and it’s kept outside so you can imagine it was very dirty, particularly the roof.

The foaming is impressive and it does cling on. However after 20 minutes the roof still needed scrubbing with my long handled Motorhome washing brush and then blasting off with the pressure washer lance.

The sides have been left with water run marks which has never happened with a normal car wash approach to the Motorhome.

It might be better with just Auto Glym polar wash now I have got the winter grime off.

Seemed to require more effort than normal to be honest!

Yep Auto Glym for me also, not to convinced about the snow foam but the shampoo and then wax I use is very good I think.

I'll reserve judgement until my first use of Snow Foam this weekend - weather permitting! Might just be a sales fad :)
I'll be using:

I also use the Auto Glym snow foam. It will not wash your vehicle but agitate the grime. I never power wash it off the Motorhome, just use a gentle spray but it does help. After a rinse, I sometimes snow foam again and agitate with the brush.

Absolute beginners.
As part of my former employment I used to clean industrial buildings, so they were of course outside all year. Generally they were cleaned every 3 years. My experience was though any pre-treatment softened the grime, just a jet wash would not take the grime off. Whereas one swipe over with a soft broom head on a telescopic pole would remove the grime, but, never allow it to re-dry on the surface as it was really difficult to shift. I take the same approach to my washing my coach built van, plenty of wash wax formula, allow it to work, then agitate whilst still wet, then gently rinse off. When it's dry it then gets a coat of the Maguires Ceramic coating. I'm happy with the results, and watching the rain water bead up and run off when it rains is reassuring. If after applying a coat of the ceramic coating your not happy as it looks a little smeary, worry not, the next clean will reveal a stunningly clean and shiny surface.
PS, other brands of ceramic coatings are available.

It does at least remove the small particles that could scratch the bodywork .
Great picture 👍
Yes definitely doesn’t do any harm, although the way some are advertised they take a filthy vehicle and after snow foam it’s gleaming😁😁
If only it was that easy, go over mine 3 times with the various foams and then with a drying towel🥵🥵

Since May 05 (Ex Tuggers).
I do Daz, ie, Prokleen Heavy Duty Snow Foam..................not that I ever need to apply it as a heavy duty solution. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)
I should have added, that I too use a soft bristled extending brush to agitate the foam, before gently rinsing off with a fine atomized water spray. I get far less limescale deposits drying off on the paintwork from our hard water using this method, than I do from an ordinary nozzle spray.

The application of snow foam alone, is never enough to remove deposits or black streaks.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

How do snow foam users find it works compared to using a soft brush and an automotive shampoo?

I bought some snow foam a few years ago but only used it a couple of times.... I didn't find it made enough difference to warrant the time and effort; I got better results without it.

I do same as Coastal Cruiser, quick spray with snow foam gun on the pressure washer, let it soak and slide off then pressure wash it off (from a safe distance) then a bucket of warm water and shampoo conditioner and eventually towel dry, sometimes I use Autoglym Aqua Wax at the drying stage.

Another vote for Prokleen. Spray the motorhome with water, apply snow foam with a snow foam pressurised spray leave to do its work for a few minutes ( don't allow it to dry) then wash off with a long handled wash brush which is rinsed in a water mixed with a small amount of snow foam and car wash and wax. Then finish off by rinsing with a fine mist spray.

Works well and takes minimum effort😁

I'm an oldbie MH number 10
I use snow foam. Only the Halfords one though devil or whatever it's called, not special motorhome one,

I give the van a gentle pressure wash, then apply through the pressure washer with a special thingy...

Get the long brush out, give it a scrub with that...

gentle pressure wash to get it all off.. seems to work just fine.

Don't forget the roof though, otherwise you are waiting your time, be careful up there but keep applying clean water with a hose and give it a brush until all the debris underneath solar and sattellite panels has gone.

btw..

You should be sent to prison for ill treatment of a Motorhome!!! 6 months!!! 6 whole months!!!! if I go 6 weeks I think I'm being cruel to mine. Even cleaned it when I arrived in resort at skiing this year.

Agreed Paul, but although I do use a snow foam solution from a spray bottle, then agitated with a brush, I'm not humping the pressure washer up there. ;)
Note the blue applicator for getting under the solar panels. ;)

Absolutely. 👍 Ours was washed 3 x times whilst away over winter, but not the roof, which got done as soon as we came home. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Once all that grime was cleaned off Martin, (with the aid of an old toothbrush for difficult areas ;) ), the lovely shine you left up there, was restored a treat. ;)

I am really struggling to keep a shine on the GRP front cap though, despite paying some "so called" specialist valet to restore, wax, and ceramic coat it.
Whilst I appreciate the sun's degrading effects on the GRP gel coat, it's only just over 6 x months since being done, and already the shiny lustre has disappeared. :(

Cheers,

Jock. :(
