hello all

Has anyone stayed in Keswick?
I'm in the C&CC and they've a couple of sites there - one of which is a club site and has been fully refurbished recently.
Yet both don't seem to accept motorhomes over 7.5m according to their web booking system.
Reading their reviews on their own website, others have reserved larger pitches for their outfits and rated the sites.
There's nothing on the C&CC website regarding pitch sizes for motorhomes (no mention of jumbo pitches at these sites either).
Unsuccessful at making contact so far with the site number provided but will continue, so wondered if any funsters have visited and stayed here or anywhere else nearby with a motorhome over 7.5m length?
Thanks

You should be OK -last time I was on C&CC site there was 2 x30/40 odd fter RVs parked up right next to each other (y) A trip to Booths supermarket is a must for any cake lovers :)

I have stayed at the Oval several times 8.5m no problems its always best to phone the site direct. I have found the C&CC club website rubbish when booking anything over 7.5m.

It is the most unfriendly motorhome town that I have ever come acros ,the best thing you can do is drive through it and go and stay somewhere else ,hight barriers ,restrictions on car parks (pants)

Booked on to the Oval/Walker Pk site this Sunday & Monday been before and enjoyed it.

Agree the parking is crap - my sister and myself parked 2 MH's in one coach bay and paid via pay &display for both vans and both got parking tickets. Having said that I like the town and both of the C & CC sites are close enough to walk into town. Also there are numerous buses to other towns in the Lake District.
The Oval still only has porta cabins for its amenities which are always clean but the showers are a but small If you are slightly wide!!

Great place, go there every year. Parking for vans used to be available at the football club, 5 mins. walk from town centre.

Was at the site last month and there is now a sign at the rugby club advising parking for MH's not permitted.

The Football club, not the Rugby Club.

Agree Castlerigg Hall is a wonderful site with great views. There are 2 Castlerigg sites, the 'Hall' is, IMO the better re facilities.

My memory of Castlerigg is walking back uphill from the Dog and Gun after a few pints, exhausting, needed a whisky to recover!

We are on the Keswick C C & C site right now Gavlad. Saw a big American RV on the site. Will ask in the office tomorrow. Weather not brilliant but a beautiful site.

Thanks very much M&M that would be great.
I did get a reply from the C&CC who said that the site can accommodate vans up to 9m so it looks like their website is playing up.

Thanks to everyone who's contributed

Heading there for a week from 11th July. Will enjoy my 50th during the week so hopefully we get nice weather.

My recent experience of the C&CC website is that they seem to continually tweak it, it is certainly not as good as it was a year or two ago. As above Keswick is a nice site, handy for the town (Dog & Gun) and Booth's and Keswick offers access to some really lovely walks. Stayed there many times, only once have we been asked to remain on site because of flood risk.

Hi Gavlad just been in office and they have 7 spaces on their site that can accommodate vehicles up to 9.2 metres. It is a large site but the larger vehicles need the space for the turning circle thus the allocated spaces in one particular part of the site. If you give them a call they can check availability.

Thanks very much M&M
I will phone them directly - obviously issues with their website for bookings. I wonder how much business gets turned away by this?
Hope you're enjoying your stay there and thanks again!

After all that rain yesterday, I hope you're at the shallow end :D

That's great Gavlad. Yes finally great weather today and needless to say loads of ducks about. We escaped any flooding Jockaneezer.
