Any thoughts or experiences appreciated.

Would definitely recommend it. Beautiful beaches. We went in a motorhome and the roads were quiet and good to travel on. Some areas had nasty mosquitos due to lagoons and there is a lack of the medieval towns that you see in other countries but otherwise well worth a visit. See my blog that covers it , just scroll down to read full blog section. http://lightningtours.blogspot.com/2012/

Lovely wild beaches and stunning mountain roads.
Ferries from italy are cheaper than France and think carefully about time of year it can be very wet.

We're planning to go there next spring after doing Corsica this year. Not really a beach fan but there is more to the island than beaches I think. :)

Thanks. We’ll be late jan to mid March. Di you think the weather might be cold?

Not the time of year i'd go and from what we saw its main attraction is the beaches so what else would you find to do?

As they eat sardines in sardinia, be careful they dont take a liking to sprats

September is a nice time of year there, not sure I would go that early.

Flying there for a week's Hotel holiday. Looks a beautiful place. Food will be fab too. May hire a car to explore when We get there. Plenty of youtube videos to watch about Sardinia.

Average high temperatures then will be around 11C in January to at most 15C in March. Rainfall about 50mm each month with February probably the wettest. This is on the coast, it is much wetter and colder in the mountains where they also get snow.

I'm sure this will be survivable ;) and certainly better than the UK. I'm planning to go April/May time but that's for the flowers not the beaches. :)

I’m here in Sardinia now. Travelling around in a clockwise direction from Olbia. Arrived 8 days ago and have booked an overnight ferry back from Olbia on 26th Sept to Genoa.
Weather perfect so far (30 degrees) apart from a thunderstorm one night.
Using ACSI sites mainly. It should become quieter next week when the Italian children go back to school.
Only seen one English registered vehicle so far!
