It is the plastic white to cover the aluminium.

There are different widths. Might be an idea to order a metre of each to establish which is the one you need

Would not using a rule to measure the width of the original insert or channel be a cheaper option.

possibly. But there is only a mill of two difference in sizes and it needs to be tight

Just remember that when fitted it is meant to be proud of the opening with a curve for water run off.

So, should be good idea buy a bit bigger. Let say 17 mm? or even 20
