Anyone for a Tesla electric motorhome?

> Anyone for a Tesla electric motorhome?

I would have done, for sure!

Until I saw the picture of it  :sicker:

Until licencing authorities world wide start to recognise the fact that leisure vehicle overloading is even now a major problem, it won't happen for Mr average.

Will it recharge in the same time as it takes to refill with diesel?

With a range of 300 to 500 miles, it’s going to have a huge battery pack and will be well over the 3.5 ton magic weight limit
I can’t see them being a sensible choice till the charging infrastructure is looked at first.

I would love one, but it’s more Musk Makebelieve PR sh*te , like his truck

It wasn't a Musk idea. This is someone taking the Tesla truck and imagining what it would look like. Nothing to do with Musk or Tesla.

I love the idea. But if it looks like that I will pass.

One possibility that has raised it's head recently is another collaboration between Telsa and Mercedes on a Van...

This would be more interesting, a Tesla Sprinter :) Now that I could be interested in.

Am I reading that weight right? 80,000 lb is 36 tonnes?

That's the weight the tractor unit it's based on is designed to haul. The unit itself won't be anywhere near that, I'd guess maybe 5t or at least under 7.5t by the time it's kitted out.
Don't think much to the artists design though.

and right hand drive?

I thought I read something about the C1 allowance being increased for electric vehicles?

This is another example of new-tech only being available to the very well-off, just like electric cars. Hopefully the price will reduce as production increases.

Oh go on then, you have twisted my arm, put me down for one...

Moroccan electric doesn't even work a 3 way fridge lol

and right hand drive?
Centre drive I think.
But the mock-up is based on the truck design so probably no passenger seat, just the driver.

I think it’s going to be an interesting few years watching what comes up.

Why would I want to spend money that I don't have on something I don't need?

But doubtless others will want to be one up on the Jones family.

New technology is always very expensive at first.
I’ve been around long enough to remember selling the first colour tv’s, video recorders and computers.
The prices were way out of reach of most people but look at what happened.
Electric vehicles will be the same.

No thanks. It costs my neighbour over £60 a week to charge his electric car. They aren't very forthcoming about the excessive costs running these fads. Gas was the new energy then they decided diesel was the saviour and now it's electric. Next year they'll come up with something else. Just look at the massive drop in electric car sales and that convinces me more to stick to my diesels.

Can't see how your neighbour is paying £60 a week mine costs me about £9 a week for 300 miles.

So he would be paying about £200+ in petrol or diesel, still doubt he will be paying more than£40 for electric, at that mileage electric will save home a fortune.

My son in law has a Tesla X with lifetime free charging at Tesla superchargers, it is also his company van, in February he took it down to Nice from Calais for nothing apart from tolls, in one and a half days.
Now he has bought a small caravan and reckon they are going to come on holiday in France with us next year, I have already told him he can meet as at sites as I do not fancy hanging around while it charges, we normally stay at sites for about 4 nights, I reckon they might arrive in time to spend 2 nights with us on each site lol

If they are using Tesla superchargers, then it will take no more than an hour, probably every 150-200 miles if towing, so unless you drive non stop I doubt they will hold you up.

The real range of their Tesla is something like 150 miles, towing knocks about 50% off that figure, so on a 300 mile trip they will lose 3 hrs, if there are superchargers on route, if not then the charging time rockets.
Plus a quick look at supercharger point locations shows they are often a fair way from the motorways do that adds time.
If electric vehicles do not turn out to be a dead end certainly for longer distances, then in a few more years then longer distance travel on the route you want might be viable.

I assume they must have the small 75kw battery then, even then amazed they only get 150 miles, my ipace which is less efficient will do an easy 200 miles on a run (unless driven at silly speeds) assuming they stick to 60ish towing I would still expect close to 150 miles.
