Morning fun

Has anyone ever used a company called Budget Chandlery?
I placed an order for a replacement Alde Circulation Pump and apart from receiving an automated confirmation email, I've yet to hear from them or take delivery.
I emailed them to ask for an ETA the back end of last week and they never replied and I've phoned the two tel/no's on their website to follow up and both are continually engaged.
Just wondering if this is normal customer service from them or whether I should be looking at cancelling my payment/order?
A bit frustrating to say the least!

Oh bloody hell!
thanks for this - you tend to get a feeling about a company and looking at the reviews, instinct is usually right.

Not dealt with them. On their contact page there's a chat option, might be worth trying that.

I am very wary now about pop-up chat options even on legitimate websites. I was almost taken in by sophisticated scammers who were piggy-backing and pretending to be from their customer support. I would suspect malware until proven otherwise. Much safer to phone the company instead.

They don't appear to have much cash about and with very low assets.

I suspect they only order the item you want once you have paid for it.

Looks like they've been at it for years, how do these people get away with it

I’ve got my money refunded.
Late last night they emailed me to say to expect my part before the end of this week.
Then an hour later, I got an emailed confirmation from PayPal advising that my order had been cancelled and I had received a full refund.
Left and right hand springs to mind!
But, at least I’ve got my money back.
One to put down to experience.
Thanks for your help & advice Funsters

Marine chandlery is a very competitive market operating on what for many businesses would be very low margins. There are quite a few 'dropshoppers' and some just cannot cope with problems as they have both cash flow problems and do not really have customer service specialists and also they are not fully aware of the law.

I bought a water filter cartridge online last week. No paypal option so debit card. No email confirmation received. Then, a few days later an international payment of £41.40 left my bank account with a reference of mallbest. Googled this and nothing to do with what I bought. I then searched for the product again and ignored Amazon, companies that accept paypal etc and recognised budgetchandlery.com. From there I discovered various poor reviews of goods not being received nor any contact. They appear to be uncontactable. Clicking on chat gives "account has been closed". I have sent an online message but no reply nor does the 0800 number get answered. HSBC are now looking into it.

I don't know what filter you are looking to buy but there have been issues with some within the last couple of years.
