SussedPlanning on maybe doing a bit of bacon smuggling are we?
Yeah, you’re right. As far as I am aware meat and dairy is not to be carried from the UK into the EU. Carrying it would be a serious crime.
Customs sniffer dogs wont take much training to find bacon. They use them at all ferry ports. I watched a program recently where a dog found a tiny piece of something that was smoked wrapped in foil and being carried in a bum crack. No it wasn't bacon.Yeah, you’re right.

They do get distracted though if they come across another dog whilst searching.Customs sniffer dogs wont take much training to find bacon. They use them at all ferry ports.
I will hopefully be able to give you a sensible answer in a couple of days time. But even if they do I reckon they will soon get bored of arguing what constitutes permitted etc. Tbf some of them can't even be bothered to look at your passport properly.I know some of you have made it into Spain. Has anyone searched your MH to see if you have any meat or dairy on board?
Joking aside these dogs are fantastic, I have been sniffed many times at airports with no positive reactions but it does keep you alert to what you are carrying. These dogs work in pairs or more so don't get too distracted by other dogs. The customs will request that you take your dog out while they inspect your vans, they will find drink fags excess cash and anything else that warrants a fine. They do get distracted though if they come across another dog whilst searching.
So no point wearing his budgie smugglers to hide the bacon then ...Customs sniffer dogs wont take much training to find bacon. They use them at all ferry ports. They might but why would I let a dog in my vehicles when I wouldn't allow in a copper or customs without me stood by their side? Why should my dog have a interloper inside his home? The customs will request that you take your dog out while they inspect your vans, they will find drink fags excess cash and anything else that warrants a fine.
Out of interest what are the cigarettes and alcohol allowances now when travelling from an EU country into the UK. ? ???
No ,head in side door for quick look and then wave through.BUSBY.Yeah you’re still right
To be honest buttons I have no intention of taking bacon, or any other meat or dairy product. We’ve even changed our dog onto food you can easily buy in France.
I’m just interested to know if anyone has actually been searched.
Because they have the power of entry, and, they could say ‘You ain’t coming in’.They might but why would I let a dog in my vehicles when I wouldn't allow in a copper or customs without me stood by their side? Why should my dog have a interloper inside his home?
& no I have no idea what allowances are as I have never used them nor would I.
That would be an ideal opportunity for them to practice their rummaging skills. When we had a yacht and were boarded at Yarmouth by a really nasty customs bloke he made quite sure we knew that he could rummage the boat and leave everything for us to clear up.They might but why would I let a dog in my vehicles when I wouldn't allow in a copper or customs without me stood by their side? What about the lorry driver who had his cheese sandwich taken from him with much laughter from the Customs Officers!Just wonder why folk worry about things before it happens,,Cannot see them being interested in a bit of bacon or a pint of milk being carried by tourists..Thought food controls were for import/export..Doubt they have the resources to search every vehicle.BUSBY.
That's oneand reported in the Sun..Thousands of trucks have crossed since then but not read about another one.Bit like gassing. BUSBY.What about the lorry driver who had his cheese sandwich taken from him with much laughter from the Customs Officers!
