Greetings All,

Currently at Stalag Luft Ria Formosa @ Tavira where we have to leave on Saturday.

We would have liked to stay but the staff on the guardhouse wouldn't give us
a Double pitch and are installing new arrivals on single pitches regardless of request.

We like the area and wondered if anyone is currently on the fairly newly opened
Camperstop in the town.

If anyone has visited I/We would welcome comments good or poor as to their experiences.

As usual, Thanks in advance.

We were there in May. Agree with your opinion, we even met Hitler there!

I would love to see them get your Morelo onto one of their pitches.
They never asked us the size of our Hobby (and they couldn't see it)

Coincidently, as we were looking at the postage stamp they were offering us,
the occupant of the adjoining pitch, a lady on her own,( her husband had been MediVacked
back to UK following a stroke) advised us that the following day, her two pitches would
become available as she was leaving, AND THE STAFF IN THE OFFICE WERE UNAWARE OF THIS!

We went back to the Guard House and innocently asked, in light of the information
we had been given, "Could we have the lady's double pitch.
Had the response been given in the manner of a genuine Germanic Camp Commandant
it would have come out totally in context.
"THE CLIENTS HAVE NO RIGHT TO REQUEST SPECIFIC PITCHES. VE (sic) VILL(sic) DECIDE WHERE YOU WILL GO!!!"

If it hadn't been for the fact that we were there to see mates who were here for the Winter
I would have told them where to shove it.

We further asked if we could book the whole months of October and November.
The response " NO. You will have to turn up and hope there is a place".

There's two chances of that happening, Fat Chance and NO CHANCE!!!.
End of rant.

We are at Algarve Motorhome Park Tavira just a few hundred yards from the big shopping centre. Not sure if there are any pitches available but Pitch availability changes by the day.

Sorry it was September mental block you made me think, couldnt have been may we didnt have the Morelo then! We were on the second pitch on the left side on the first road straight in from the gates, parked parallel to the road. Just the one pitch with weeny ones on double pitches opposite. Branches were not too low fortunately.

To draw this post to a close, we arrived at the Tavira Camperstop Park (as stated by ) yesterday and it is living up to the expectations created by the owners who also run the Camperstop at Silves and Falesia.

Everything in its place and, for a Camperstop we have loads of space. All for €10 incl. electricity.

There are several Grey and Black dump points and the place is like a new pin (Well, it only opened in the Autumn of last year so I suppose that's to be expected.)

Today we ambled to the end of the road to watch the FLT's slumming??? it down by the beach and returned at wine o'clock.
Next month, the clocks go forward and the price goes back to €9.

Life gets tedious, don't it.

Glad you are enjoying the camperstop and understand your disappointment with your treatment on Ria Formosa.

The single pitches are basically not fit for purpose for even medium sized vans and there is no excuse for the rude treatment that you had to ensure.
We find most of the staff friendly but there is the odd one, and we are here long term so may be treated differently.

I will be in the office this week to pay the rent and if one of the friendly ones that I know is on duty I will certainly pass on your, and others, comments about the unfriendly and unhelpful attitudes..

At the moment the site is full in January, February and the Summer but things change and in my opinion they would do well to try and be more accommodating to tourers.
