Just had a warranty replacement of my N 3000 series fridge freezer which leaked its ammonia after one week use and replacement is the new N 4000 series which is not sounding any audible sign of absence of power source.
Does anybody out there have any knowledge of these new fridges?

We have an N4142E and it's silent. The only way we know it's on is a very small blue light illuminated on the power button. It doesn't give off any audible signal when it's totally switched off... just the absence of said blue light.

Never known it to make a sound even when searching for an energy source when onboard a ferry.

Auto select and a temp button, all in front of blue lights when pressed. We leave it alone and let it get on with it and apart from a first day play and switching the door around have never turned it off.

Didn't they give you its User Manual?
Nothing mentioned about an audible signal.

Hey guys! Many thanks to all of you for the replies. My round for the beers if we meet anywhere!
I don't like the Matt black appearance of the new one and I think it's a retrograde step that there is no audible warning of a power cut. I remember a few years back in France, that we regularly had a shortage of power at about 8 AM when everybody fired up their kettles and the fridge cut out (not auto switching to gas then) which gave us a warning to turn the gas on. I suppose with the new auto searching power this is not necessary but I always like a secondary backup warning as the LED lights are very small. A word of warning here, when stopping at filling stations, and boarding a ferry, it is recommended not to use the gas for the fridge so you have to remember to turn off auto seek when travelling!

We've never bothered regardless of fridge make or type over the years, gas is always off when boarding ferries anyway and is always off when driving. We've just left it alone. On the Spanish crossings we pack slimline freezer blocks around the fresh stuff to give them a bit of extra coldness for the 24 hour sailing but we tend to travel fridge lite when heading abroad, usually a bit of salad and spread for a quick sandwich if needs be.

We've noticed with start/stop that the fridge remains powered.

Added thought. When we had the Tracker that fridge didn't make a sound either and you had to be careful when using the cupboard above as you could lean on the power button and turn it off, I'd be off running around being all Rita Hayworth double checking everything until a bright spark... the missus, simply turned the damned thing back on again!

I also turn off the gas for driving and when on the ferry.
I pre-freeze bottles/cartons of milk which don't waste space as I put them in the fridge door shelf. Even after a 4 hr crossing they're still 95% frozen.
(Not necessary for you I guess as you said you travel fridge light when heading abroad).
