Van conversion
Firstly, Ive just realized this in my 4th or 5th thread in the last 2 days....but we are at the building stage and my dad keeps throwing questions at me like....go and find out if ...bla..bla..bla...O, and I need to know today as the carpenters coming tomorrow!
Its a mad house at the best of times!
His latest question is about tables...should we be looking at a single leg or folding table? Any recommendations. It will be for 2 people, one at each side.
Many thanks for all your help, its invaluable!!

It's worth considering a table you can use inside and out. Single leg is likely to be less stable although you can get them with a tripod.

I suppose it depends on where you want to stow the table top. We have always had single leg fiamma system tables where the leg and the top(s) are stowed separately due to van size restrictions. This has then given us the option of using the fiamma tripod foot to take the table outside, albeit it’s a little high using the same leg.

I took out the huge table from our van and we use a round one about 60cm 2ft across on a single leg and tripod
takes 2 laptops or ideal for 2 to eat at

I wanted to do this, but we cant get the screws to move, no sign underneath that it is bolted throught the floor, just 6 philips screws, they have been undisturbed since it was built though. othr half does not want to drill them out. (might be because he doesnt really want to remove the table though)
apologies to OP for hi jacking the thread, may serve as a warning not to make the table too big, heavy and fixed.

These guys have every kind and shape of table top finish you could desire.
Good luck in your choice.

use more force, like a ratchet with a crosshead bit. get extra torque on the heads and the will release

It would be a good idea to have a look at different solutions at a dealer's.
Single leg = one position but easy to sit around.
Free standing can be moved about and used anywhere, even stored out of the way.

I very rarely use the table that came with my PVC - I find most ‘van tables a bit heavy. I use a couple of TV dinner tables as they are lightweight, easy to store and can be used outside. Not necessarily pleasing to the eye but very versatile imho.

Not my experience but maybe I'm more clumsy! Clearly the relative size of table and tripod are relevant.
Brenda has had 2 strokes and is great at knocking things over or falling over. Touch wood, she has had no incidents with our table on a tripod. Also much easier than getting her legs past a table leg on a corner

When we don't need the supplied table as a bed base we leave it at home and use a folding table similar to this one:

We leave the dinette table in situ.

For outside use we have 2 sizes of aluminium roll-up tables, but in practice don't bother with them much. Instead we bring a super easy to fold-up table similar to this one:

Although I am sure you intend to fit some form of clip on table, you may be interested in the DVLA idea of what a motorhome (motorcaravan) should have, it includes table fixtures. I assume this means no free standing tables.

We have 2 single person round tables on swing out arms,. The tables can be dropped and swivelled out of the way when not in use. They don't take up much room, are very maneuverable and also make useful drink side tables. We had a freestanding table with the van but was too large. Required shuffling sideways to get out and always nudging it. Never used it since.
