I have a Pioneer AVH-X3800DAB unit installed in an A class. ( Don't know if that makes any difference). There are two Pilote speakers in the back of the hab area, which work fine. There are also two speakers in the front footwells. I get no sound from these. When I look at the audio settings on the head unit, 17/19 settings are dimmed, so I can't change balance or anything that might be affecting the volume. The manual tells me I can choose "Standard" or "Network" configuration for the speakers. This choice should be offered on first installation or by doing a reset. I've done a reset, and guess what, no choice offered to change this. So, I'm stumped. I don't even know if this would solve the missing sound, but no idea what else to try. I've had a look at the back of the unit, and there are no connections to the phono sockets as I would have expected. I think there must be some clever wiring been done. Aaargh!

The phono ports are not for the speakers. The speakers come off the standard output wires. The last 8 wires on the connection block (2 sets of 4 colours)
On some A-Class Motorhomes the ‘rear’ speakers are not connected, ALL speakers are officially connected as ‘front’.
Some A-Classes also run the head unit through their onboard sound system, so there may be other options else where.
Would need to know which Motorhome you have. Regards

Hi, thanks for your points. It's a Pilote G650.

Folks, you're killing me here. I'm desperate. Anyone any ideas?

Have you got it set to 'rear' speakers as apparently this is the default, if so you'll need to turn this off so it comes out through both sets of speakers.

Yeah, that makes sense. The problem is almost all the audio settings are dimmed, so I can't do what you suggest. I can't see any way to get the settings back. Although I've not yet tried switching off the source. Maybe that will bring back the settings. Can't try now till the morning. Fingers crossed.

Not sure if you've got the manual so below is a link so you can download it, I've been looking at page 38:

Not pioneer or a Pilote, but on my Hymer I have a factory installed switch on the side wall which operates and switches between front, middle, back or all of the speakers. Have you any switches that are undiscovered?

Thanks, but I already have it. It's exploding my head to be honest. Having been out of the country for quite a long time living a simpler life, not exposed to all the latest technology, this is a bit of a culture shock. 😆. I did as you suggested in your earlier post, but the everything is still dimmed out in the audio settings. 😐

Have you ever had any sound coming from the front speakers? I'm wondering if a cable has come off/not been connected so it's not registering in the system that you have them.

Is it possible to get a photo of the connections at the rear of the unit.

Im thinking that they may have wired in the fronts. Obviously if you have wires to the fronts and the rears are working you could just join left front and rear together and the same with right front and rear. At least that way you will have all speakers providing sound.

Looking at the back I have no idea what's going on. You will probably have a better idea than me. It wouldn't be difficult....

Would you mind taking a look at my post #13 please? In the installation of manual the three pairs of red/white phono sockets are labelled as Front output, Rear output, and sub-woofer. Obviously something else is in operation since I have sound from the rear speakers. Are you saying the speakers are all connected via the multi-way plug in the second picture?

Ok, I've now managed to access the audio settings. Judging by what is unavailable, it seems network mode has been selected on initial setup. I feel like it should be standard mode as network mode doesn't allow front/rear fade. So, my question now becomes, quite simply, how do I change to standard mode? Ideas anyone?

So, I'm sorted finally. Landy Andy reminded me that you can reset via software. I'd done it several times using the little button on the front plate, which didn't offer me the network/standard choice. However the software restore does! So, chose standard, and now I get the front/rear fade option in audio settings. Job done finally. Thanks to everyone for all the help. What a brilliant resource you all are. 🙂

Drinks are on you then. 👌🏻👌🏻

Glad it’s sorted.

There is another post of someone asking about the network setting. I hope they read this and avoid it.

Yeah, that was me too....... Just another avenue I was trying, to understand what was going on. No need to pursue that now! :giggle:
