Im aware of that
That's why im in Greece ...
My point was if greece with low figures extended their lockdown dont be surprised if france extends theirs
UK didn't, as you know came out of Lockdown Dec 2nd with 16,000+ New Daily Cases, No country can Afford stay in Lockdown, the people will start to rebel, think the French are Experts on that, case of swings and roundabouts, France and Spain are really starting to feel the pinch now...so possibly move on to a Tiered system...

Which is why if they keep extending lockdown you can understand o5her countries with far worse figures extending there's.

Unless of course they buckle under pressure

Greece will probably rely on another Bailout, or Brexit themselves....

Yes but theres a reason the uk has the worst figures in europe

Its a circus lol

When the figures go through the roof once again in january and lockdown 3 comes people will once again complain

800,000 vaccines in a country of 66 million doesn't really help much

Orrrrrrr... being devils advocate, does that just mean more people being tested in the UK ?
My step brother lives in south France.. he has been there many many years ( he is on the local council where he lives :) ), and no one in his village / area has either been tested or offered a test

Just HOW is this Dam Covid thing spread ???????????
Some folk tell me that its spread by inconsiderate T***S travelling here and there ? is this correct ?
...........or by people staying in their home towns but descending in their thousands on a Christmas market, or Primark??

Sensible socially distanced travel is a lot safer than that IMO

So what your saying is that Yes, what I'm told is correct.
Thank's for clearing that up for me, I just knew it was safe to travel all around the continent picking up god knows what and bringing it home to the UK.

Having read most of the COVID threads over the last nine months it still surprises me those who are always looking for the ‘angle out’. What happened to personal responsibility and morally doing the right thing. Easy to blame the government and others. Those who find the angle always voice their opinion on others as to why they are right and a majority of the population are wrong. Good job we didn’t display this attitude during World War Two as we would all be be speaking a different language.

A big thank you everyone who commented constructively to my post and those who actually read it throughly without making assumptions. The thread has been very exciting and a big eye opener for me. I was genuinely surprised at the number of responders who chose to think I was wanting to travel now during a lockdown period rather than in early January which is when we would like to get away. Hopefully then current restrictions will be relaxed both here and mainland Europe to enable us to travel legally.

So, for those opinionated individuals, the platform seekers, the professional epidemiologists, the lawyers the righteous and those who simply can’t read; I suggest you all wait for my next posts where I intend to discuss the merits of Brexit, the toppling of statues, taking the knee, and mandatory driving tests for the over 75’s.
I’m not taking any sides here “goneoff”, but in your original post, you did specify 7-10 days, no mention of after lockdown, that was probably what triggered some of the replies that you took exception to.

inconsiderate T***S travelling here and there ? and NOT social distancing/following guidance ( travelling itself is not the cuplrit which is why we can sit on transport right next to each other like aircraft)
inconsiderate T***S not wearin masks
inconsiderate T***S meeting people outaide their bubble
inconsiderate T***S travelling not washing hands
inconsiderate T***S not wearing masks
inconsiderate T***S travelling here and not self isolating on return
inconsiderate T***S assuming it is just one of the above like travelling and not maybe keeping the other reasons a the fore front

Actually i dont think so.
This Pandemic was brought to Europe and the rest of the world NOT by people staying at home and converging on their local supermarkets.
It was spread around the whole world, causing misery and death by unsuspecting people who travel, and now it's spread by people who think that they are safe from it and the rules do not apply to them.
Those people will always think and say that what they do does no harm, HOW STUPID CAN YOU GET, it's killing people.
By traveling outside your local area you INCREASE the RISK.

slightly blinkered view but of course I see your point.

But the actual local spread was far more than the media portrayed before anyone even jumped on a plane.
local spread is the biggest killer. It like trying to blame adam and eve for the murderers currently in jail or the influenza.
Use the measures btought in and we are all at far far less risk, cant say zero as that isnt true, but less than flu, pneumonia, viral infections of other strains, as has been proven already.

To just jump and blame motorhomers or travellers in a fit of anger is wrong, proven by local municipality restrictions /tier systems/social distancing measures.

And from someone with a signature like yours a blinkered view doesnt add up.

Let's be honest here: I dont think anyone is on here posting content about travelling, regardless of what direction they are travelling in, in an attempt to be provocative or to stick their fingers up at anyone.

But, I'm sensing that some people who have made the choice to stay put, isolate and comply with the confusing and somewhat contradictory guidelines, quite enjoy taking the high ground and thrive on being judgemental towards people who don't share their idealism?

I'm currently travelling through all the tiers in the UK, but I do so in my lorry as I have to earn a living, and the DfT have instructed us (RHA members) that absolutely all logistics should continue as normal if possible, regardless of whether you are transporting pharmaceuticals, building materials or whatever, (boats in my case).

My point is that I have tried to maintain a high degree of care and consideration and have taken as many precautions as possible to protect myself and others. But, if I was doing this mileage in a motorhome I'm sure I'd get a moral beating off the righteous amongst us who would jump at the opportunity to take the moral high ground and verbally crucify me.

I just think that if someone posts a question about travelling, as in, looking for updates etc, the people who dont agree with it should just click on the next post, rather than posting their views on morality and the distain they feel for others who don't buy into their ethos. It really isn't helpful and isn't relevant to the original question being asked.

Perhaps a sub forum could be started where people could post their grievances on society in general? Then at least they would be able to vent their frustrations without clouding topics with unhelpful preaching.

Let's face it, you've got more chance of catching it and/or spreading it down at Lidl, Aldi Tesco or Morrisons and you're probably safer with 2 up in a moho not coming into contact with anyone else?

Just my opinion and not taking any moral high ground.
Very well said agree 100%. There are too many keyboard warriors and armchair lawyers out there passing judgment on all whose ideals don’t agree with theirs, if they don’t have anything nice to say , better to say nothing at all.

Surely considering that with exception to trumpville the uk has the highest number of cases it would be more accurate to assume that people were taking it out of the uk rather than in?

But personally im more inclined to believe its because of stupid people who can't think for themselves and blindly follow stupid policies.

Too right!!! Just to quote tier 2 restrictions that Norfolk has been put into (the same tier as London but we won't open that can of worms):

Taken from www.gov.uk

*You must not socialise with anyone you do not live with or who is not in your support bubble in any indoor setting, whether at home or in a public place.
*You must not socialise in a group of more than 6 people outside, including in a garden or a public space - this is called the "rule of 6"

And here lies the example of how the clueless establishment are intent on leading the sheep:

*Public attendance at spectator sport and business events can resume inside and outside, subject to social contact rules and limited to whichever is lower: 50% capacity, or either 2000 people outdoors or 1000 people indoors.

On that premis alone, I would suggest that there is no right or wrong, and we are left to just make it up as we go along and do whatever it is that you want to, to satisfy your own conscience.

If the law makers can't get it straight, then who is anyone to judge another person if their interpretation of the ridiculously ambiguous "rules" doesn't sit where they think it should?

Hands Face Space? Up yer pipe Boris! a slogan isn't going to sort this mess out.

Has any of you Funsters driven through France into Spain in the last 7-10 days and if so was there any issue on the border re Covid check etc, any special documents required, PCR test? I’ve given up on trying to catch the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander at the same time arrange the results from a Covid test to be available within 72 hours of setting foot in Spain. A PCR test that would guarantee us getting the results in time would cost £590.00 for the two of us. Then the ferry could be delayed! So I am trying to explore the possibilities of driving through France via the tunnel. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Hi Goneoff
I’m on Arena Blanca and don’t want to get involved with the morality of should or shouldn’t travel in a pandemic, I’ve been here since October, and I know what I would do if I was thinking about travelling now. Just for your information a couple have just this morning arrived on site directly from the UK, he told me he didn’t know anything about any travel restrictions either in France or Spain, but as had the PCR test before leaving. He didn’t see any police anywhere in either country.

Rules and laws cannot be written to include every scenario and individual circumstance and the spirit of the rules laws is as, or maybe more important than the letter of the law.

Stupid example: Motorway speed limits are 70mph (I think or has it changed) and Fred respects the limits ...except ... when it is 0200h, there is no-one else on the motorway (no likely in GB) so Fred believes he can now drive at 120mph, no-one else there, if anything goes wrong there is only him going to get hurt. He arrives safely, no-one hurt, no police to dish out the speeding fine ...is that OK ... or does Fred lack a certain moral/social conscience.

For all Freds/Fredericks and any derivitives of that name, please read Humphrey

Its been stupid from the start

Whenever they said people could drink inside pubs or eat in restaurants etc with no masks but masks must be worn inside shops i lost all faith in the rule makers.

I dont care if they were supposed to be keeping distance etc ...
Its a proven fact if you involve alcohol all sense goes out the window.

Far more likely to be students parties/ raves/ xmas markets/ protests and all the other well publicized mass gathering s many - oh don't forget that 25% have caught it in hospital s while being treated for other ailments.

This is a motorhome forum, its a place where members discuss motorhoming, its always going to involve travel. Other forums are available.
