Hello All

I am new to the site and indeed to 'Motorhomes'.

I bought a Mercedes 2.3 'Foster & Day' about a year ago but have had little use out of it to date due to the obvious.

It is old...very old....'H' prefix 1990 to be exact. However, it is in superb condition for its age and has only 28000 on the clock. This figure is backed up by every MOT certificate it has had in its life so from 1993 to date!!! The previous (and only) owner clearly took great care of the vehicle.

My question is directed at any other owners of this marque. Given the age of the vehicle, what should I be looking out for in terms of deterioration that effect this particular motorhome.

Any information much appreciated.

Paul

There was a dealer/convertor out near Brierley Hill that always seemed to have Foster & Day's and Karmann vans, but they were all on VW bases, I was very envious.

The Karmann Coachbuilt forum has some sort of affiliation with Foster and Day, you might find some owners there, although it's not a very big or active community.

I recall you could see the Foster & Day factory off the M62 approaching Oldham/ Manchester in the day they were a highly respected manufacturer.
Glendale were the brand leaders as l recall operating in a tiny market.
l used to dream about owning such a vehicle ,how times have changed having a Concorde as l do l would never have believed at the time that such a Motorhome would exist.
You have a historic Motorhome on a great base vehicle, enjoy.

Looks a good van but low mileage is not always a good thing, they are the chassis of a working van capable of hundreds of thousands of miles, and motorhomes sitting around on damp ground is not good, they are meant to be used so get out there a use it…
