Any FLTs in Croydon?

I was in France recently, heading home but we stopped for the night at an Aire just south of Reims, nice enough but the sign said you could also park behind the church. That sounded pleasant - so off we went and found the church half a mile away, absolutely gorgeous 12/13th century church with a parking area behind it, lovely and quiet and peaceful.

There was a water pump there that I was availing myself of - but couldn't connect a hose to it, I was filling a container to then pump into the van. Next to us was the old vicarage - an absolutely beautiful and very large house, I was seriously in love - the kind of place that in most of the UK would be £1m at least. Anyway, a lady emerged from said gorgeous old house - to ask me if I was OK using the pump, she could get her hosepipe out from the garden if it would make life easier for me, and to wish us a pleasant evening parking outside her home.

Next morning we went back to the aire to use the grey water dump, the bins and to empty the loo. A chap came out from the town hall to check we were OK and apologise for the electric being broken, and apologise again that the local baker was on holiday so we'd have to make do with a reduced selection of bread in the local shop.

Sometimes I think the attitude to motorhomes is just a *bit* more positive in France than the UK.....

Mr dettmar sounds like he needs to get out more. Or Mrs dettmar needs to put out more. What a very sad life some people must lead to be that bothered about the council paying for a few litres of water.

Ordinary bloke in an ordinary car, builders filling up .....I would suggest in those circumstances it's more likely to be Free Loading Travellers, who may also be Tossers of the worst kind ...
