Hello everyone
We’re thinking of island hopping the inner Hebrides this summer (subject to restrictions/availability). We are looking at visiting Mull, Tiree and Coll (we visited Skye a couple of years ago) and possibly some others. Can anyone recommend ’must see’ destinations or places to avoid please? Also, has anyone tried this in summer without pre-booking crossings?
Thanks in advance!

Did the inner hebrides 5 years ago with a cal mac hop scotch ferry ticket. It was brilliant we really enjoyed it. Only advice take a spare wheel, why garages do not stock m/ h tyres. They have to come from Inverness via courier/ ferry then further ferries depending which island you are on. Go and enjoyed.

There’s not a lot to see or do on Coll and Tiree. Beautiful beaches on Tiree. Plenty of them and good for surfing. You can take your chances with Calmac ferries. You will usually get on if you join the unbooked queue early enough. If you have specific dates I would probably book but even if they say they are full there is always capacity so again, turn up early join the unbooked queue. Calmac are not taking cash so I imagine it will still be the same this year. Queen Nic said There may be some separate restrictions on island travel this year but it’s still to be looked at and announced.
