OTT in my opinion.
UK voltage is fairly stable, the highest I've seen at home was 252v and a lowest of 220v. Well within the tolerance of most appliances.
I checked due to recurring blown light bulbs before I realised the new generation of 'low energy' halogen house bulbs are crap.
You can't put a high heat capsule inside a glass globe without it retaining a lot of heat and prematurely burning out.
