Sorry - I just keep on finding things that I'm not sure on. This looks like some kind of alarm speaker? Beer and whisky for all that have helped so far!

It's for communicating with Johann, the chief engineer in the engine room when you want full revs. Have you never seen Das Boot?

Lol - no. My dad probably did though!

Was a newbie, now a Middie.
It's obviously a MIL warning device. They were very popular some years ago. (y) If body heat from the bed exceeded a certain level, (indicating frisky movement), the device would play a pre recorded message from your mother in law....."What are you up to with my daughter??? Put that thing away at once.............".:)

What is it connected to?

Not sure. 2 wires in and out. The out wires (red and black) appear to go into a bundle of wires which in turn feeds onto the circuit board. I wasn't really with it this morning, I'll try and get some better photos and trace the wires back when I get home.

The wires look pretty beefy and about right for alarm wires though the mounting bracket seems designed to allow it to swivel which might be a bit too sophisticated for an alarm?

Well I thought it looked like an alarm. But I have no fob for it! Unless it works off the main fob for the electric locking. How do I set it off - smash a window??!

Right. Ok - further investigations by he who is not yet competent show that this is indeed linked to a gas detector type thing. I've included a pic of the gas detector. I've also included a pic of the sensor. Above the sensor is a bigger brown plastic type thing which has a switch? Type thing at the top of it. Does not appear wired in or related to the gas detector. The floor is open to you all.

Image 2 appears to be a peizo sounder. What is above the brown switch adjacent to it (shelf, lid, cover)?

It's a cover. I can see wiring coming behind the sensor but nothing behind the buzzer looking thing although may need to unscrew the cover to be sure.

I asked because the brown device appears to be a switch that might simply operate the sounder. Is it the sort of switch that would be operated by the cover - either by the cover in place or as it is removed? Or is the switch operated by a knob on the other side of the partition it's screwed to?

Yes I thought that - the switch is located on the top right in the pic above where the wires come from. I have jiggled the switch but nothing has happened. Perhaps the alarm needs to be sounded before it does anything?

Right - behind the brown plastic switch thingy is this. I think I can trace it back to the circuit board. Although there are wires everywhere approaching it.
