Well I think I took gassing to the French a couple of weeks ago...... driving into Dieppe it became clear to me that I had not put any blue stuff in the cassette, and after a few days of use the van was becoming so 'whiffy' that even I was noticing it. So just before the ferry terminal I stopped and put the blue stuff in and sprayed the van with air freshener

- too late to do much good.

I got through passport control and the customs post and lined up for the ferry.

3 customs officers came over, "We will search your van"

A female and male officer climbed in while another kept me talking outside.

They searched the van very quickly !

If there's anyone here who still believes that possibly, just possibly, gas attacks really do happen, then there's a foolproof way of ensuring they don't happen to you (and you don't need to fit any Cornish banshee gizmos).
Just leave your iPad and Rolex at home - guaranteed to work.
Oh! I always travel with items that amazingly add up to my personal allowance insurance limit when I am on holiday, just in case I get drunk, and can claim a fictional gas attack! :D

You're not a "celebrity" so they won't believe you or pay out

You also need to leave exactly £2000 in banknotes at home just to make sure!!
