Another Free camping spot closed

And I can see more closing thanks to the likes of these individuals

Can you provide more information so members can form an opinion based on facts or at least what they have allegedly done wrong. Or, is it just a rant against motor-homes legally parked up in a public parking area. More info would be helpful. I presume they paid the attendant to park there as stated on the sign at the entrance to the car park.

Reactivated my Facebook account yesterday after a 4 month lay-off. Quickly realised it was full of absolute tripe and closed it again.

A cesspit of faux outrage, misogyny and look at me!

Back to the OP, what did they actually do wrong?

Removed post as I now see the carpark being closed is about a 1/4 mile up the road from the beach not at the beach.

Then you have all your settings wrong... or are 'friends' with people you don't actually know.

Looking at the post on Facebook it's not specific where these people are actually parked up. However, the only clue is one post that says free parking on private land and google only identifies one car park at Kennack and its this one in the link below, right next to the sea and most likely the one mentioned (sea in background of A class in picture), as its private with a sign showing payment required for cars and larger vehicles. It also has a large extension to the paved car park and would be ideal and popular with motor homes. However, the location is surrounded with campsites and I can well understand any resentment towards m'homers parking here. All the complaint's on Facebook come from one group of members and they vent their spleen to a man, even threatening to block them in with huge boulders in their £90.000 m'homes. It's all very one sided and no one actually has stated what offence they have committed other than being parked there.

I think this is the one they are referring too going by the Kevin Roberts photo.

I wouldn’t disagree. The nature of Facebook groups is such you can never physically know all the people much the same as this one.

The level of moderation here however is a much higher standard.

It is private land that was attached to the owners farm&business and was verbally attacked, so as such they've took the hard decision to close off the land completely

And you know what, I completely agree with them, why should they put up with abuse by these so called "wild" campers, they are not wild campers, they are free campers, who, thanks to their actions have ruined for the masses

Looks like the green van in original is still there in the latest picture posted by Two on Tour 😊

As you can see from the picture above, there are cars parked there and I suspect the owner tolerated this being used for parking. No indication of parking restrictions for m'homes or cars for that matter and so one or two have taken the opportunity to camp there I suspect and the whole thing has kicked off from there. I always thought wild camping and free camping were the same thing ? I and many members on here often use free parking and overnight stops. I must admit, only in Europe for me as they are more tolerant than the UK and have more facilities.

Thanks for the added detail.

If you read his comments.....

" I’ve had three expensive sign cut down and stolen, I’ve tried very hard to maintain it as a free carpark at my families expense. We do not want to lose this ground as a free campsite. There are plenty of campsites in need of money from this pandemic. My dad has worked too hard in his life for his farm and land too lose it too freeloaders and I have very short patience for anyone that’s abuses my families generosity. I am sorry about shutting it but after the pandemic and normality ensues it may reopen. "

Presumably because it may then be thought by some to be a campsite and subject to the relevent legislation.

I had a root around to see if I could find anything about Kevin Roberts on Facebook, couldn't find him.
Found it, I clicked on the f in the original post and there it was.

On my walk this morning I passed a couple in a Hymer, who were parked next to the beach.sun shining, their toes in the finest golden sand while eating breakfast to the sound of waves. Who wouldn't want to do that. I chatted to them for a minute or so about what a wonderful morning it was. They were a nice couple.

This was 6am and they had levellers under the front wheels so they had definitely been there all night and why not. It's what vans are for.

The why not is because a local bylaw has prohibited overnighting, they were lucky they missed one of the regular patrols that move you on or fine you.

Why... because when it was allowed people just took the piss. Rather than enjoy a night or two like this couple... They would move on with caravans and motorhomes and stay for the whole six weeks of summer holidays and more. Coz camping is allowed innit.

Around some vans it would look like a tip. Then they would share the location with their mates on social media and before you know it, the place resembles the worst type of itinerant camp.

Local people coming for a day out have difficulty parking, the grumbles start and letters get written. Byelaws passed,

Greedy freeloaders, always ruin it for the rest of us.

I've re-read his posts and do not see these comments! Not to worry! He does say he wanted to keep it as a free car park. I wonder what he means by 'free camping' ? perhaps he did not want motor-homes to park there ! It's all academic now.

Thanks for that! I was only looking at his Facebook post. These are not expensive signs ! However, that is not the point and by ripping them out all this achieves is pissing off the owner and giving all M'homers in the UK a bad name. Even responsible FLT like me !
