Found another disused railway line today which goes from Le Poozin to Privas called La dolce de la payee.
Very new and fully tarmacced
Gradient is about 180 metres over 19 Kms.
Not a lot of shade in comparison to others I have found.
We stayed at Beauchastel along the Rhone free to stay. 11 km ride on the via Rhona very flat to get to the start.
Only 35 degrees today so hard work.
Not as good as la dolca via but a number of cuttings and viaducts. No cafes or bars en route but signs for some 300 m away. Privas was pleasant enough apart from the guy who was eyeing up our bikes to steal. He didn't appreciate me taking me cap and glasses off and staring right at him from 2 feet away.
No swim spots but the route on the via Rhona had crystal clear water to go into and lovely fruit farm that cost me 33 euros.
If interested when I have a laptop working there were campers wilding down there and it was blissful
I will link these disused railways at some stage for those interested but found another one for tomorrow or day after.
We came back directly on the road looking for plunge pool. It was 30kph on bike hardly pedalling on way back to le pouzin.
There are places to park or kip especially at train station beginning with C
Aire at Privas camping card type 12.50 euros.
The green velo thing is where you can lock and charge your bike (use own padlock) presumably for free
Enjoy
