Just been to fill my underslung LPG tank and after it had stopped filling I removed the filling hose and the gas started spurting back out through the filler cap! After getting over the initial shock the garage forecourt was shut off as the newly filled gas continued to spurt out.I climbed under the van to the tank but the only shut off valve was on the outlet of the tank,I can't find anyway to shut or isolate between the gas input valve and the tank.I ran to a nearby plumbing merchant and purchased a screw in end cap and managrd to finally stop the leak.Has anyone else had a filler cap jamming open like this or know if I can isolate between the tank and the filling valve so it can be replaced (by an LPG registered fitter of course)Not the best way to start the day.

How long was it escaping for? I would have thought there will be 2 non return valve a fitted, one in the 80% internal and maybe one in the fill pipe too?

If you reconnected the filler and disconnected it again it might have shut off.
All you can do now is use all the gas or what's left of it, and look at the filling point.

Definitely should be a non return valve in the tank and another one on the inlet. So at the worst the only gas that would escape would be what's in the filling hose, very unlikley for both valves to fail. The gas in the hose will release for a long time as it is liquid at well over a 100 psi.

Be very careful if doing this, wear gloves as the gas can give you serious burns.

We had the same problem on one occasion in France ... I re-connected the nozzle and told the guy on duty who came out with a Bic pen, removed the nozzle and cleared it with the pen. There must have been something fouling the valve which gave us no further problems.
I reported it to Autogas2000 who replaced the fill point when we next visited just in case.

It was certainly a scary few moments and for the next few refills I carried a Bic to be sure.

If you have a Spanish adaptor they have a valve built into them. I always have fun trying to get the adaptor off it gets very tight with gas pressure behind it.

It was fitted by Autogas 2000.There was definitely no shut off valve. The gas escaped continuously until I managed to thread the brass bung in it.Although my hands hurt for a while there appears no real damage.I have rang them and left a message, but no reply as yet.I did try reinserting the filler pipe several times but it didn’t make any difference. When I replace the valve I am going to fit a shut off valve just behind it,somewhere easily accessible.I definitely don’t want to go through that again.I will report back when I have heard from Autogas 2000 and let you know what they say.
