As I understand it, very few motorhomes have a charging system that is optimised for AGM - perhaps some of the latest ones do.
The required charging regime for AGM is closer to that for flooded than to gel. Gels take much longer to charge, particularly in the absorption stage, so if you set the charger to gel, it may overcook flooded or AGM batteries. The gel setting should also run at a lower voltage than that for flooded.
Having said that, I think that most AGM batteries require higher voltages than are normally found in flooded charging programmes so the expensive AGM may never get fully charged.
If you know, or can get, the charging pattern for your charging system (in the manual?) it may be worth talking to the technical department of the manufacturer whose batteries you are considering and ask them for advice.
If i am on hook up full charge would not be essential and when on solar my controller has an AGM setting.
I was concerned more that i do not damage the batteries.
