The drop down bed on our 2015 B678 has developed a very annoying squeak (or creak maybe) whilst driving along. It is on the driver's side (RHD) and is giving me a headache. I have tried oiling and spraying silicone grease on all the moving joints but it has not stopped the noise. Also on long journeys the bed drops down a little, no matter how tight I pull the supporting strap up. I have also noticed that it sways about a bit at the front on rough roads. The bed has never been slept in and we use it for storing spare bedding and towels on.

Could it be the hydraulic stays that help lift the bed up are failing?

Sounds like the struts need re-gassing. These guys are the acknowledged experts for regassing or new struts

If you're not using the bed, remove the mattresss, that takes a lot of pressure off of those springs. (y)

We did take the mattress off but the squeak was still there but louder because the mattress was muffling some of the sound.

We had similar issues caused by: 1. Stuff on top of the mattress preventing it from fully rising up, particularly items on the far side would cause it to drop down whilst traveling, and also if it can move up and down a bit, it would squeak, and 2. Anything down the sides of the bed which causes it to rub and squeak against the wall of the motorhome, in our case the footboards

I have heard it is very difficult to take off and refit the struts, with stories of them flying off and smashing the windscreen. Has anybody successfully done a DIY replacement and if so what way did they do it please?

I think it’s a 2 man job, you would need to wedge the bed with a wooden post or something.

There are threads on here how to do if you search.

I did the struts on my 2001 B584 with out much trouble, I got my replacements from SGS and got high pressure ones, went from 1700 to 1900nm.
