Lifted this from a community site, this is how the thieves operate. A cordless angle grinder will whip off a lock that secures a bike to a post or rear mounted bike carrier in seconds.

Health and safety exec should look at this and prosecute, No safety Gloves, Safety Glasses and worse of all No safety Guard around the grinding wheel. So once the police have done him for nicking the bike I suspect he would get a higher fine and jail time for breaking Health and safety at work rules.


Battery machines are highly portable and powerful they will take a stop lock out in seconds, you have to be a bit more careful with a Clutch claw and a little more time for a wheel clamp. I used one to remove a tow ball lock it took about 13 seconds to cut through the steel like butter.

Being perfectly serious, the crime is (or was) 'Going equipped to steal', a very useful device in my day...

Looks a good Lock and more robust than most, according to Bike Radar:

:Against a portable angle grinder it lasted 108 seconds (for a single side of the shackle), and it held out for 110 seconds against a high-grade tungsten steel saw blade (for a single side)".

So not a quick cut but still cuts would be interesting to know the disc they used to cut it and certainly a deterrent against theft.
