I have a sat nav which still tries you send me down "pig tracks" to save a few hundred yards. We also use a hand held phone that uses Google maps (operated by my co pilot!) I much prefer Google maps for planning and info so I plan to ditch the sat nav and mount a tablet in the MH and use that for navigation. I recall some conversations on the site a while back on this topic and was hoping for some up-to-date advice.

I plan to down load google maps and have a tablet that has GPS as well as the ability to use the internet (where available) but ideally the system will work well without wifi. (save data and not be reliant on wifi coverage)

I have had very good experiences with Samsung tablets and would prefer to stay with this make.

Anyone used this type of system and what recommendations do you have please.

I think there is a thread elsewhere on the forum all about this.

Wopps sorry - complexly missed this thread somehow  Thanks Minxy for the link.

I use my old 7 inch Samsung tablet with co pilot as my sat nav, it works very well, just a bit slow loading but once it's up and running it works really well.
