Roger flew back from Faro (Portugal) airport to Bristol on Saturday leaving JJ and Smudger in the (Eastern) Algarve.

We drove around some of the local wild camping spots in Smudger's toad so Smudger could meet some of the people...

Then on Sunday I (JJ) drove back up north (central) to Ansiao leaving Smudger down on the Rio Formosa Campsite in Cabanas near Tavira.

so now there is one... although other Funsters (and yet to become members) are around

Smudger called me last night... he is still on the campsite in Cabanas but had taken a trip over to Vila Real in his toad yesterday and hung out with the "cool" guys over there... Vivian, Billy and our very own Doug (dougcumiskey)

I think he is planning to move his Monster (Wnnebago Journey) there quite soon. He would join the hundreds of motorhomes parked in the docks there. If he gets the right position he will be able to connect to the town's free wi-fi system.

Then he will be able to learn that his NEW PART FROM THE USA has arrived!!!

Doc (smudger) has just called me... he is without internet at the moment.

He has moved fropm the campsite in Cabanas (where the owner has turned out to be a complete star and really helpful) and is now wildcamping in Vila Real. He was in great spirits despite the dreadful weather.

He is in need of a gas adaptor (English to Portuguese) as his gas is getting a little low. A bit frustrating as I have two (one for the Wagon and one for the Hymer) but I am 550kms away. If there is a Funster near Vila Real who could help?

I am sure he will find one on site... there are lots and lots of vans there.

My sources tell me that the motorhomers currently parked on the docks at Vila Real, Eastern Algarve have been asked to move as there is going to be a huge Fun Fair taking place there...

The Sun has got its Hat On

The return "trip" to Blighty for me starts today by heading the wrong direction down to the (central Alagarve) to meet up with Smudger (aka Doc aka Derek.)

A couple of days touring around or whatever and then we head off north proper on Thursday.

We will try and fit the new electrical connection part to the Monster's steering wheel and double check Roger's work on holding the broken rear panel in place.

The sun is out and predicted to stay out all weekend...

Fingers crossed...

For the first time for a long while this winter I had to get up early this morning because the sun was making the van too hot!!!

I arrived in Silves around 6.30 yeserday and soon found the location of the Motorhomes.

Doc played host last night in the Monster... with Viv, Billy, Stewart, Wendy, Andy and yours truly (although I was a good boy and left when the brandy bottle came out...)

Really refreshing to have the sun out...

I am glad to see the sun coming out at last and pleased to hear doc is having a good time. Have a safe trip back. enjoy the sun before hitting the snow in southern France, hee hee. Make sure Doc fills up with gas, diesel, and Sangria when passing through spain, hee hee.

Time for Smudger to say goodbye to the Algarve "Gang" and head home...
We left Silves at 3.00pm
We stopped after 100 kms for a cup of tea... (4.30pm)
Sun still shining..
Heading for Pego do Altar for an overnighter before continuing to Ansiao...

I (JJ) only made one direction error... do Funsters know how far you might have to travel in a 60 foot rig before you can find somewhere to turn around?
