If you have any questions regarding the forum from now on can you direct them to Jim only please. I am no longer dealing with front end stuff.

I helped with the migration doing the technical back end stuff and the prep work, but yesterday due to family needs Jim had to go out for the day. None of the migration stressed me in anyway. I have done this type of things many many times so I took that all in my stride. Yesterday however, looking after the forum for one day raised my stress levels beyond anything I have experienced since before I went fulltiming. I was like a puppy dog when Jim returned last night.. So pleased to see him so I could hand the keys back :p

After doing forum stuff none stop and solidly for almost 7 days now I can finally relax (y). I just want to thank those of you who were helpful and supportive, you know who you are :D. for those of you at the other end of the scale I am happy to hand you back to Jim's sole care ;)

The work that goes on behind the scenes was an eye opener. I hadn't realised how much work goes on that none of us ever see. Jim still has his work cut out for him but he will get through everything given time, support and patience.

Thanks everyone.
Gromett

PS: If I see anyone else whinge about emoticons listen carefully and you may even hear me scream from wherever you are :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I thank you too sir, don't be too hard on the dissenters, in the main we are all old (ish) and really don't embrace change

You will have seen all the benefits develop relatively slowly, we had them chucked at us to sort out, a few trims and tweaks will tidy the edges and in a months time we will have forgotten the old forum

retire gracefully and with pride in success

Ha - Ha. Write it up on your CV. It's good for back room techies to do a bit of front line support every now & again. Now you know what it's like. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Seriously though - brilliant job by the pair of you. A well matched team, I would think. As Mo said - don't go too far - I'm sure your services will be called upon before long.

Now - breeeeeathhhe

Thanks from me too. Done a few updates on some of the national newspapers in my time but cannot believe how easy (from the outside) you have made it look.

Many thanks, and sorry for spelling your user name with two "ems"! I think the transition has gone brilliantly.

So I guess you and Jim won't be offering your services to the NHS, BBC, etc....

Wow - Stunned - Shocked

Expected you to be around for a while longer Karl

For such a popular forum to be totally "down" for such a short while is a great tribute to your talents.

You have worked tirelessly and far beyond what you originally expected to do (ie front line work).

You stepped in when Jim had to go out and did a fabulous job covering - and many with your skills wouldnt have coped as well as you did

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Its looking great and we really do appreciate all the hard work you have put in and everything you have had to "put up with"

Sending you big cuddles and lots of thanks

Karl - do you offer your obvious skills elsewhere?

Pm me as we might need someone in the months / years to come.

I think it would be a remote type of thing.

Well done for the update you have done, I have been on a number of forums where they for the same reasons have had to update and modernise, change is always a bad experience and fun has actually been quite good, one of the worst things is having to get used to the new layout, looks and the using of any new forum, it will get better because everyone will get used to it
Well done Jim & Co
