In Poland on All Saints Day Nov 1st it is the tradition for all families to visit the graves of family members and loved ones.

The government have decreed that this w/e all cemeteries will be closed on Sat, Sun and Mon.

It is thought there are two reasons: firstly, the paths in many cemeteries are narrow and get throngs of people jostling along and SD is impossible; secondly, people travel many kms to family graves in other towns and regions, so there would have been a lot of mingling between people of different regions, and then returning home.

It does seem to make sense.

Lots of old traditions and customs being halted at present, it’s a shame but necessary.
You’re correct and unfortunately once these traditions are broken they will in all likelihood never come back. Christmas here is likely to go the same way.

Don’t think Christmas will go permanently though a certain part if the community would like it to go as they could not celebrate their feast earlier this year. Just look at Leeds, Bradford, Blackburn, Leicester and Notts all are or will be Tier 3 very soon.

I do have some sympathy with you, it’s been too commercial for years now.
Our family tradition was to go for a long work on Christmas Day and stay away from the box, but that may be hard, this year. Last year we stayed on a CL site in Norfolk and cooked the Christmas meal in our Romoska

That must be a really really huge deal in Poland.

I couldn't believe how beautifully and lovingly kept the cemetery's are there.
Is there anywhere else in the world like it?

I'm hoping that the American tradition of kids knocking on doors and asking for sweets for Hallowe'en which has been over here for a few years will go away.
Problem is that is a stolen tradition from European Pagans. At the time of the autumn equinox (harvest time) it was a tradition to go and beg at your neighbour's door that should your provisions not see you through the dark winter, they help you. You would promise to do the same for them. Then at the winter solstice you would get together to feast and celebrate the shortest day.

Where do you work on Christmas Day? I worked many of them for thirty years. I do no like to spend them with family having missed quite a lot of our children’s chritmas’.

As for Hallowe'en, we always had it in Scotland and I think that we gave it to the Americans. I believe that it is a long standing tradition in most of the British Isles apart from the South-East. Beats me that people imported a "tradition" from America and then disliked it because it was supposedly American, when actually it is a fine old British tradition.

I think people are not dsliking Hallowe'en as such, but just the Trick or Treat aspect and its crueler versions.

I never give treats in case the little darlings have 'intolerances', so when I open my door and they say: "Trick or treat?" I shout: "Trick!" and give them a jolly good squirt with my water pistol. (y)

No Way!
I have it on good authority that Santa and the Elves are finalising all their preparations , including Hands, Face, Space in the workshop, and Santa will be making his rounds, but will be wearing a face mask this year.
The show must go on!!!!
