An analysis of French Aires

For those of you who do not get motorhomingfrance online magazine I am posting a link that it contains in the April edition to a run-down of French Aires and categories/charges.

French Aires are decreasing

A recent survey of French aires has revealed that in 2023 there are fewer aires than in 2022 (which had already recorded a decrease compared to 2021). From 4,000 aires three years ago, aires have actually decreased to 3,800. Does this mean that France is losing interest in welcoming motorhomes...

Don't worry, they only decreased by 5%.

Not quite knowing where they get their figures from but S4S has 7,335 motorhome stopovers (not 3,800) (including FP) and google comes up with 47 aires in the Ardennes region courtesy of campercontact (not 14)

I think more have gone the other way, quite a few municipals have become aires. I m noticing new ones so wonder if they've changed the classifications in some way?
