Hi there has anyone stayed in any campsites near Amsterdam that they would recommend. Heading over just after Easter for 5 days and want to be able to use local transport to get into the city. Family of 5 travelling.

Many thanks Rich

CIty Camp is in Amsterjam and a short (free) regular ferry across to the hub of this fascinating city. That is the only one that I am aware of.

We have used City camp several times and would highly recommend for a few nights visiting the city, however if your travelling with kids and prefer a proper campsite then you could try camping Zeeburg it's about 5 min walk to the tram then around 15 mins max to the city center.

You could also try this one we haven't used it but cycled past it's not that far from the city https://www.amsterdam.nl/vliegenbos/en/

we have used city camp and it's fine for a short stay but if you prefer a proper site with showers/ toilets/ restaurant/ green open spacers then i suggest Gaasper camping south of the city with a metro station five mins walk, it will get you into the town in 25 mins plus a night bus back if you
stay late,

We were chatting to a chap from Amsterdam about the same thing. He advised us not to stay on any sites too close to the centre as there's a lot of crime. He said to stay on the outskirts and commute in.

City camp has wire fences and guards. And very sociable they are too , different than the wardens on camps here.
