Just bought I Winnie and was wondering if I could rewire the amber marker lights/indicators back up to U.S spec as most HGV's have amber sidelights built into the indicators.

So what do you think?

Not sure on the legalities of it but the fact that they have been changed from USA spec must say something!!

The other question is why would you want to bother?? If it aint broke....dont fix it:Eeek:

Because the conversion was crap.............just led's stuck on the bumper :(
So I thought I would give the headlights UK sidelights and return the front indicators to U.S spec.

Yes you can, but not pass an MOT if you mean they are iluminated all the time and go out when indicating
you can do as you say but make them work to UK spec:thumb:

I rewired my Winnebago marker lights after they were decommisioned
As long as the amber marker light is incorporated with the indicator light ..that is if you have a double fillament bulb one which lights up the marker light and the other fillament lights up the indicator light ..so you have a amber marker lit and the light goes brighter when you indicate it will be legal . Hope this makes sense
However you must show 2 white side lights to the front either in your headlight or separately

Yes, I plan to put white sidlelights into the outside headlamps (has 2 on each side) and wire another into the indicator lense so it is on but dim, then when I use the turn signal it will be much brighter :)

Am I right in thinking that an A class is 12 volt and not 24 volt like trucks?

Hi

My unit was sold new by Westcroft they wired the side marker lights to indicate in tandem with the front indicators AND to be illuminated when the side/Main Lights are on.

I assume that they comply?? with the (then) 1993 Regulations and my MOT guy is generally well on the ball and has not failed them in 5 years.

Hope that is of use??

PS as far as I am aware Virtually ALL US (truck/bus/R-V's) are 12Volt?

Ok, I've done it

Rewired it back to U.S lights but made it so the sidelights stay on when indicating a turn signal, I have also fitted 2 banks of 9 light strips (same as the new Audi sidelights) into the grill as UK sidelights.........looks a treat :thumb:
