Apologies as this is a long post but I'd appreciate your thoughts .
We bought a new van about 2 months ago and on our second outing to Shepton Mallet show I went to collect it at the storage facility only to discover there was a gas leak in the locker, I could hear the leak so it wasn't just the smell, I tightened all of the connections, still leaking, so I went into the motorhome repair centre that is attached to the storage place and asked if they had anybody who could take a look. I've already had issues with this place in the past but against my better judgment and with the need to get it sorted because of the nature of the problem I decided it made sense to get it checked. The problem turned out to be the regulator, they didn't have the duo control that was fitted to the van and only had one with a crash sensor so gave me a price of £155 to get it fitted, I asked if there was any way of sorting this under any warranty because of the age of the van and she replied that she would give me the old regulator and that I could try and email Truma but didn't hold out much hope, I was a bit pissed off but because we were on the way to the show and we planned to carry on from the show to the New Forest I had to get it sorted.
We got back from our hols, I emailed Truma who replied and told me to send them the regulator, in the meantime I'd noticed whilst googling for Truma repair centres that the repair centre that carried out the work was one of their nominated service repair centres. I sent off the regulator and got a call from Truma, they were prepared to send a new regulator to the same repair centre that I used and I would have to pay to get it fitted, I wasn't too happy having already paid once and questioned why if the repair centre was a Truma recognised repair centre then why wasn't I offered the replacement under warranty, 'you should've been' I was told, after further discussion and me getting quite irate they agreed they would phone the place I used and question them, the response from the repair centre was that I was so desperate to get away that I couldn't wait for a replacement part to be ordered so I opted to pay for a different one, this is obviously lies because I wasn't even offered this. I decided to phone the repair centre, I spoke to the woman that had served me in the office, her excuse was that she didn't realise the age of the van (even though I'd painted this out and she filled in all the paperwork), apparently I hadn't gone into the office until it had been fitted, again this is lies, I had to see her in the office before they could start the work and finally she told me that because she has to pay for her stock then why should she put a part on my van when she's not sure she can get her money back, bearing in mind it was a faulty regulator!
As I've said this is the second time this place has ripped me off, they charged me £1500 to do a damp repair on our first van, shortly afterwards we part exchanged the van and the dealership had to spend in excess of 25 workshop hours putting the work right to make it acceptable to sell, fortunately I'd been honest in the description and told them that it had a damp repair and showed them the receipts, they weren't worried as the owner of said repair centre used to work for the dealership in their workshop, they were amazed when they saw how shoddy the work was.
Truma have now agreed to reimburse me the money I've spent or they will pay the repair centre to replace the regulator with the correct one and I'll lose the £155, do you think I'm right to feel pissed off??
