With our limited experience, we recon this is a nice, quiet, out of the way spot with views and weather protection...

Stay on the Fire Road (turn it around) and don't turn left down the road to the Dam and Official Car park (seen on the right of the photo).

On a weekend be prepared for dog walkers, fisher folk, and at the right time of year rally marshals to be turning up from 08:00 onwards.

There is now a Pay and display here with a unofficial looking no over night parking sticker on the top, We were not disturbed and I did not even notice the sticker until the next morning!

The walk around the reservoir especially over the heath is spectacular
