When thinking of buying a vehicle I always check the MOT History on the DVLA

I often browse interesting vehicles for sale - on Ebay, Mathewsons etc

You can find out so much:
Annual mileage - Has the vehicle been in regular use?
Gaps in MOTs - why has vehicle been off the road?
If the vehicle has been welded at any time, then undersealed?
Reasons for failure etc

Recently saw a 2017 Nissan Leaf for sale with 125, 000 miles on the clock !
MOT history showed 50,000 in its first year !!

Says a lot about the model and electric vehicles

MOT history showed 50,000 in its first three years?

No in it's first year

How could you tell that it showed 50,000 in its 1st year, as its first MOT would have been in 2020 showing the total mileage for the previous 3yrs ?

That's how Newer Cars with Digi Speedos are clocked, they are clocked at 2yrs 10/11 months Old, just before the 1st Mot, as most are only serviced at year one, as long as the mileage is higher than the mileage at the 1st Service, the Clocking would be untraceable...

Kept missing the Dover turn off the M25. 😉

Why would it have an mot at one year old? Do electric cars have mot tests from one year old?

My car is 2 years and two months old it has 2143 yep under three thousand miles. But when the mot is due it will show the mileage on three years.

it is not recorded so far with any one. But here now..

No! three years same as any other car.(y)
I just wondered how the mileage was recorded on an mot at one year old if it doesn’t have a test until three years old? It also appears to have had a test in June 2018 and again in December 2018. That looks more than a little suspicious.

Again, some licensing authorities require 6 monthly MOT tests, but that is usually reserved for much older taxis / Private Hire vehicles.

Thank you, that does explain a lot about the strange MOT history.👍🏻

That could explain its high mileage if it was used as a taxi?(y)

Nissan leaf?

Maybe as a driving school car and MOT either required or volountary

Could it have been a Taxi/Private Hire vehicle. The licensing authorities have more stringent MOT testing requiremenst such as tests every 6 months (that would explin the test in December) there does not appear to be a standard pattern between authorities. So this one may have specified MOT after firs year then 6 monthly afterwards.

I always check mot history before buying .
you can tell over a few mots if the advisers have not been done then its a case of it has NOT been well looked after or maintained.

if the advisers disappear each year that shows the works have usally been completed .

stuff that has to be done to pass the mot will be done .

works that keep coming up as advisers are what you have to come ,,,,,,

Each local authority can set it's own licensing conditions - but most generally adhere to this -

See paragraph 32 re MOT tests.

Could just at have been a cheap way to check the vehicle for a resale after the first year.to show it was roadworthy.

It's on Ebay for £7995......

Other than if it was a taxi, or whatever, I'm still a bit puzzled how an MOT can show the car's first year mileage since it was registered?

Edited to add, I see from your earlier post [3] that it had two tests, six months apart in 2018 - so perhaps it was a taxi? I believe they have to be tested twice a year in our neck of the woods (Bristol).

I just love the fact that local councils can set their own licensing requirements! Now starting to insist on licensing private landlords in some places. How is this allowed when they are incompetent to look after council housing stock and high rises in London riddled with damp and health risk spores etc. useless power hungry bureaucrats!

Unless it's been Serviced at the Main Dealer, then Mileage will have been recorded at each service...

Eight grand for a five year old car with 125000 miles on? That’s ridiculous, A real car would be less than half that.
EVs are real cars, just because they don't fit your needs doesn't make them any less real.

If the EV is real why isn’t the price? Eight grand for a five year old 125000 mile car. How can you battery car fans justify that?
They’ll never catch on at those prices.

This MOT history just shows that in a 6 month peroid of its life - June to December, it covered 31,641 miles

<Broken link removed>

I found this and was very interested until I did the MOT check and the milage is out
