Yep 5th van now..go for quality they said...
Well sitting here in brugge and after 6 months of ownership this is why i will always buy German in the future..

Model Nieman & Bischoff.
2012 65k paid.
Wartanty RAC Goldstar 1k (total in microscopic print)..

Broke down on collection
Gas oven -- failed (fixed)
Fridge pcb board failed (repaired but read on)
Roof leak from awning bracket (fixed)(incorrectly fitted bolts missing fitted at TW)
Alde heating leaking (no one knows where Booked a specialist)
Locker catch knob failed ( £104 for replacement)
Rear bedroom window fell out
Front window glue melted
Fitted self level system now prepares van for take off. (Booked for repair)
Kitchen catches broken
Electro control panel failed.
Electrically operated drop down blind failed (motor seized now unseized)
Installed sat nav / stereo blew up. ( new one ordered)
Hab door electronic closure broken
Window washer pipe came undone.
Electrobloc constant tripping of the site electrics.
Fridge won't work on gas (no it's not the burner unfixed)
Step won't retract from cab (unfixed)
Step won't retract full stop
Snapped exhaust bracket
Oil leak

Oh and then there's the incorrect alloys that come away from the van on Belgium toll roads although this is a separate issue and resolved and can't hold anyone responsible for that other than the supllier...

So there you go folks..
Always always buy German..

Much of the above I've fixed and much of it has happened this Holliday.
Yes it's not all N & B im not stupid and know that..
But in comparrison my first 3 vans put together cost less and gave less issues..

lets not park near each other, the mutual moaning would have everybody selling up

with regards to your list, I do find it comical when real trivia gets included, the list is pretty comprehensive, I really don't think the washer tube coming adrift will add much in terms of sympathy :)

whatever became of the black alloys?

The washer tube is important David.. it allows me to see where I'm going...
The wheels you could nearly find in the Belgium country side although they have been replaced with far superior ones when i get home.. it appears the manufacturer got his sums wrong ;-)

Ooo Paul, I am so glad I bought oh hang on it's German, oh it's N+B(y)

You must just be so lucky (un)

On a serious note thought the level of problems you have had are frightening and as a big fan of N+B quite embarrassing.

Sorry to hear that, have I told you how good our UK Swift is ? Although we did need a new cruise control switch, which is, of course Italian.
Did you have to have the complete assembly on the side of the steering wheel? Ours went wrong as well and had to be replaced, was told it’s a fairly common problem.

Our Elddis is also well built and been reliable in the short time we’ve had it, no plans to change anytime soon, there’s no conti vans under 50k used or new that I’d swap it for

Paul's 2012

That is the only information your need to work on and then you can come to a conclusion.

That's why I bought a British built 2005 Concorde Concerto:LOL:

Since 2014 we’ve had 3 new vans
1 x English - leaked
2 x German - no leaks and great build quality

I’d certainly buy German again, but not from a robbing lying English dealer

To be fair I am not convinced the Dealer can be blamed in this case.

I think you'll be surprised just how many people buy brand spanking new motorhomes and then sell them a few months later because it's not their thing.

I've not been in the MoHo game for long myself but I've certainly heard enough stories from the dealers to suspect that it's a very common event.

There are a few things on modern vans that I don't think are needed and do seem to give problems, powered front blinds, electric locking doors to name but two.

Have you checked out the Esterel mines a 06 and except for a slight problem with the central locking it's been great. Seen some of the newer models on my travels look smart and well built.

The whole unit was replaced, 3 stalks, under warranty, very efficiently by Spinney.

Paul so sorry to read of all the hassle you have had on your holiday it's not what you needed, hope it's all sorted out, maybe time for another change of van I said to @DavidG58 about 18months ago that he should have got rid of his van constant trouble, no point on holding on to some vans.
Sending you and Nikki :hugs:

Yes agree, so why did I buy one with a powered front blind?

It is more the general build quality for me, cost cutting, corners cut, cheaper materials, cheap light wood and fittings, cheaper thinner GRP sections.

Cheers @Carol ..

Won't be changing the van as that means spending more money...

I will rectify whats wrong... it's off for a full mechanical health check on Monday.
This will be followed by a full habitation health check with the warranty document...

Its really really odd..
But we love the van although we have named it Christine after the cult 80s film...

We are to positive people to dwell on it but just wanted to demonstrate a point..
It matters not what you buy not what age you buy...
Everything in the MH world will cost you time and money..

Because you didn't have a choice as it came on the van you wanted(y) and now you have your fingers crossed that it keeps working.

Look for an older continental or brit van.
Quick grab one before they start rising in price :)
