Recent item in our local newspaper reads :-

Changes to the rules for pay-and-display parking for campervans and motorhomes are set to be discussed by councillors. Members of the public will be able to watch a debate on the topic at the next East Devon District Council scrutiny committee meeting on April 8. While many of these vehicle owners use officially licensed campsites, EDDC says it has seen an increase in the numbers of people parking overnight in unauthorised locations such as on streets and in public car parks, breaking rules and regulations. This in turn has created problems with waste water discharge, domestic refuse disposal, visual amenity, loss of parking space, noise and obstruction of pavements or highways. EDDC's Car Parking Task and Finish Forum (TAFF) will be recommending overnight stays in car parks be allowed (subject to strict terms and conditions) in any of the district council's pay and display car parks that are deemed suitable. Motorhomes and campervan users would not be eligible for purchasing any of the standard car park permits and could only use pay and display carparks on a 'pay as you use' basis.

AFAIK this is all part of what CAMpRA has been working with Devon Council to do
Members are campaigning all over Britain to get Aires for us similar to Europe though it does seem that most are going to charge for the pleasure at present

seems a good idea, but it will soon get abused by the few who will ruin it for all of us with motorhomes, who behave responsibly and treat the place they stay in with respect.

Ive said it before and I'll say it again.
In this techno. age where is the evidence relating to discharge of waste?
Let's face it. Its easy to say and just as easy to prove, so where is it?
Whenever the itinerant masses descend on a community, the evidence is put out throughout the media.
Where is that same evidence relating to the parking/stopping of motorhomes.
There may be the odd tosspot amongst us but not enough to tar us all.
