Best to get the part number off the alternator. As you say it will be updated probably 160 amp.

But why would it be updated?
The only extra load would be the split charge and fridge supply and even a 120a alternator can cope with that..... Its doing very little else until the lights are turned on.

Hymer always fit uprated alternators.
The split charge if the batteries are flat can deliver over 40 amps, fridge takes 15 amps, the standard 120 amp is designed to just run the Fiat electrics.
I thought most converters have uprated alternators fitted, well German ones do.

In agreement with Lenny HB's post above, my experience of alternator replacement on our 1999 Hymer E690 (Ducato 2.8TDi based), is that the original specified alternator is no longer available, and that I had to choose from either a 90A or a 110 A replacement. :( I thought that this was a far cry from Hymer's original spec, however, because I had fitted a Sterling B2B, the subsequent lack of the original alternator capacity, wasn't the problem I thought it might be. Cheers,

Jock. :)
