Hello

He were out in Belgium at weekend and I had started the van (no hook up) to clear the screen and the tickover picked up and I noticed the battery light had come one. Clearly the load to the engine form the alternator had stopped. I assume having been on fridge on gas all night as no hook up that this was the time the fridge was switching to 12v.

I turned off everything including the van control box and checking the output of the alternator - 14.3v. Revving the engine extinguished the light, but if I turned on the heating fan - or even brake light or any other electrical load the light stayed on.

I suspect the voltage regulator in the alternator - the battery is holding charge and starting the engine well. The strange thing is that the alternator seems to be creating appropriate volts but not high amps.

Van is a 2008 Euromobil 810 with a big after market electrical instal with 3 x120amphr leisure batteries - invertor - solar etc - but I still get issues issue when I turn the entire van circuit off,

Any informed views please - grateful

We had the same problem on our Bessaccar fiat 2.3 and the Alternator was replaced. I didn't do any tests on it - called Breakdown company and RAC attended and advised Alternator needed replacing which was under warranty from dealer.
