I have tried loosening the 3 screws to enable me to rotate the lamps on my 2006 Hymer ( round ones not the teardrop ones) as per other posts but so far have only managed to free 2 of them! Is it possible to use gaffer tape on the lamp to shade the relevant area? It's what I have always done on my cars over the years when going abroad but they always have marks to show where to put the gaffer which makes it easier.
Thanks Paddy

personally I never bother that much.. no plans to drive at night..

but in the past have used black insulating tape on the dip beam to stop it dipping left ..

you can see the marks on the lens that do that.. just cover them over..

it keeps the boys in blue happy

hard hat on :whistle2:

I may well resort to gaffer -everyone says the screws are a *** to loosen and that you need to be a contortionist -I agree!
We do sometimes drive at night so I would rather do something. ..
I don't think I can see any marks but will have another look.

I have never seen a LHD van from foreign visitors to our shores bother with beam deflectors. Strange that!

New MOT rules forbid ANYTHING which reduces light output.
That will include any kind of tape.
Don't know if this is a Europe wide ruling or just UK.

Proper BEAMBENDERS are opaque and don't restrict light output

Newish Hymer DL beam benders not suitable no magic lever to switch them over for continental use, nice one Hymer I don’t drive in the dark but there are other times in poor weather when headlights are required.

And they are plastic.....some adhesives on masking, gaffa and insulation tapes will attack the plastic leaving bad marks when removed.

Mine are old school Hella glass John .. same as the OP I believe

tape put on at ferry and taken off when back.. so no MOT implications

I've got headlight protectors and a small black square exactly placed (pre marked) and they're there all the and sails through the MOT because it does not restrict light within the spectrum

That's because most don't dip & light to the right it is just straight up & down. This is why out in the country side you will see any one who has fogs turned on so they can see the drop into the ditch.

The new MOT law only comes into being this year so see if it passes then.
I suspect a light meter, as in photographers, or similar will be used.

Fair enough but it's extremely easy to remove the headlight protectors if needed.
