Your so lucky to be able to toast it.Nowt wrong with a nice bit of toasted bread and tasty dripping ....
No we paid tax all our working life, our pension comes from what we paid in not from you!Oh gawd, more pensions to pay for out my taxes, I’ll never get to retire at this rate
Seriously, hope you all have a long life and good health to enjoy it, as highlighted by steve69 not every one is able to, life is precious don’t take it for granted
My boss is 5 years younger than me so will have to wait awhile before hers kicks in. Still at least we are not on bread and dripping what ever that is
Enjoy both your pensions
I think you will find all your tax paid for the then pensioners whilst you were paying in, they do not save your contributions to pay you out when you retire, they take it off the next working generation, that’s how it’s always been. My pension will be paid for by the younger generations taxes (hopefully)No we paid tax all our working life, our pension comes from what we paid in not from you!
Would have been ok if they hadn't moved the goal post for womens pension age.Mine is 12 years younger than me. When we met, it never dawned on me that the age gap would result in our pensions being out of sync for such a long time. Although she will have a couple of small defined benefit works pensions that she can start drawing in less than 3 years' time which will help buy more toast and dripping. And Trill for the budgie, of course.
When I read this in my head I could hear my Dad saying 'Bread & dripping, all crust' in an East End accent.....I miss my Dad.Nowt wrong with a nice bit of toasted bread and tasty dripping ....
I know! I got my first one last month - and I’m on the bus as we speak having paid nothing! My boss has just had her first pension payment...... we can now live again and won't be on bread and dripping for Xmas day........ thank you HMWP..... never thought it would happen....... we are a lucky country

True but better than nothing.Bought dripping is not the same as home made
One of the reasons I married my hubby I'm 5 years and 1 month younger than him ... then of course they change the goalposts so not only do I get it later I'll actually be 1 year older than the age he will get his!My boss is 5 years younger than me so will have to wait awhile before hers kicks in. Same situation for us. But it’s good when it happens!Get the one from Heron, my Mum who is quite picky has tried loads and this is the only 'non-homemade' one she'll have.

Yes,you’re right. Last weeks tax/NI pays next weeks State Pensions. To my knowledge,no uk government has ever set up a Sovereign Wealth Fund, unlike Norway who kept back some of their North Sea oil dosh. We are very good at borrowing it though!I think you will find all your tax paid for the then pensioners whilst you were paying in, they do not save your contributions to pay you out when you retire, they take it off the next working generation, that’s how it’s always been. and it's a year late for men and 6 years late for the women, personally I think if it was put to the nation people would have voted to pay a little extra to have an earlier retirement. Pity the future generations, retirement at 68 will be harsh for many, those who have a lifetime of low pay and manual jobs or ill health. For those who have been able to retire early or throttle back and have a MoHo we are blessed with good fortune. No we paid tax all our working life, our pension comes from what we paid in not from you!
Many Pensioners also pay tax....I think you will find all your tax paid for the then pensioners whilst you were paying in, they do not save your contributions to pay you out when you retire, they take it off the next working generation, that’s how it’s always been. I won’t be paying much, I won’t get muchMany Pensioners also pay tax....
It has been the same since the day they introduced it.Viper, you beat me to it, been the same for many many years. I cannot understand why Boris doesn’t keep it towards his wine bill and parties.
I worked in a pensions dept and had to send out letters for some stupidly small amounts but nothing that low. We'd have offered a lump sum of about 55p in full and final settlementYears ago my mum who worked but only for periods of time when she was 60 she received a letter from local council pensions to say she would receive a superannuation payment but would only be paid annually as it was 5p
