We are currently at marjal costa blanca which seems nice. we are meant to be going to la marina potentially for two or three months. before we move does anyone have any views on either site? marjal seems nice, is la marina better? we have two young daughters with us - aged 5 and 3 - so want to keep them entertained. we also have a car for exploring. we dont know whether just to stay here.

Also - i like the look of the spanish and fitness classes here, particularly pilates and dont know if they have tbat sort of thing at la marina. also is the spa on site at la marina?

Thanks.

There are two small camp sites just off the 332 at La Marina near Iceland. A few shops and eatery's near bye and many more in La Marina urbanization and the village, both these sites have very little on them certainly no spas. Many of the water parks on and around La Marina are now closed. Their are a couple of larger sites near bye, sister site Marjal which has good facility's and near the Segura river and beach, The other in the village which has indoor/outdoor pool, spa, gym, and water park (name escapes me for now)also next to beach.
From any of these is a very short drive to El Pinet beach with large car park that a lot of motorhomes use during the day but no over night parking. Lots of info can be found on La Marina face book page.

Just as a warning because you have two small children. In ANY area of pines in the spring there is the possibility of processionary caterpillars. To young children a line of hairy caterpillars all following each other looks very interesting. Beware. Their hairs are poisonous. They can cause problems from minor skin irritations to eye problems if the hairs get anywhere near. They also have white nests in trees, also not to be touched.

There is no problem at the moment but from January onwards take care.

These caterpillars are anywhere from Portugal through Spain and into France. Please don't let this post panic you but please be aware. They are present in the pines at Guardarmar in Spring.

Excellent spa at la Marina and good for kids I have been with mine a few times. Marjal Guadamar is just down the road give that a go too. Try Benidorm this time of year my kids loved it, make sure there is an indoor pool.

As you have a car, take a look at both sites, they both have a different feel to them, for sporty activities and children alike you will find these locations to be just what you want, and very different from your current location. They both get quite full during the winter season, nice climate, loads to do....hope you enjoy your stay.

We visited marina and marjal in guardimar yesterday and ended up staying at marjal costa blanca. The two sites in guardimar didn't have the kids club open during the week - which was a critical factor in our decision making! We had a look online at some benidorm sites but all the kids stuff is quite limited during the winter season. Our next decision is where to put the trailer as there is no room onsite - probably offsite nearby for 20 euros a month.

We are giving La Fuente at Fortuna a go after Christmas. It apparently has very good Spa facilities so perhaps that might be an option too but, as we have never been, can't give a view (until after Crimble)
