Every few months, Aldi sells metal paint (Deco style paint with rust protection) and this week, the are selling the spray paint version in our local store.
Yesterday, I bought the silver spray to use when the weather is warmer and it prompted me to get the non-aerosol tin out (which I purchased last year) and use it to touch up some rust damage over my camper's wheel arches; while it is not a perfect match, it is a close enough match to my silver Bongo to be worth using. I have also used it on the guttering which were rusted but not damaged; the finish looks really good. I'll be using the white paint on my Merc Sprinter MH's gutters and the underside of the wing panels and the black spray on my Bongo's windscreen wiper arms that are almost completely paint-free now.
I do not know how UV stable it is nor how long it will last without a lacquer finish (which I will apply when the weather is better) but it looks better than the rust and some of the reviews that I have read suggest that the finish looks good for years. It should also stop the rust from reappearing or spreading due to it's protective properties.
