A steal at £270 given the Aldi backup I'd say.
Many years ago I bought an open frame builders genny from aldi.
4 or 5 years later it quit on me....ignition coil failure.
I rang Aldi's warranty line and told them the problem, and how old it was.
They kindly informed me it was out of warranty (no shit Sherlock ) but gave me the contact details for their supplier.
Turns out it was a WOLF© in Aldi clothing..

WOLF© had an office in west Yorkshire and the genny was still a current model.

£9 for a new coil.

Excellent service from Aldi.

Went into Aldi, at 10am this Morning, (`cos I wanted a car creeper, for my Garage) had a look at the generator, It is definitely a 4 Stroke. At that price they will not be there long, half the builders will have them!.

Pete
I looked at the creeper.
Useful bit of kit and looks well made.
Then I remembered, my days of grovelling about on me back on the floor are long gone....I have an inspection pit.

If I dug a pit here, It would be full of water inside half an hour!. The water table is ON the table (almost).

Well that's me on my second one already. The first one kept cutting out randomly with a low oil level alert despite the oil level being fine so it went back for exchange this morning.

I'm not panicking yet though with 4 years and 364 days of warranty remaining.

When you think I got a measly 12 month warranty on my 1989 Honda, 600quid NEW.

sounds a pretty good deal regardless if anyone looking for one. When we looked they were around £1000 then on top of that i was going to use LPG kit to convert it to save on the fuel smells as no where outside to store. Even as a backup this is cheap for home.

Hi,
I've just fitted a 100W panel to our motorhome (with advice on parts from Bill and Kate - big thanks both). All quality parts from reputable dealers off Ebay. Relatively straightforward job, just need good access to the roof. Panel was £184.

we have solar on ours but my use would be for a backup to that and home use as they are very cheap.

Hi, aldi generator.
Just had my order delivered, (ordered on line) filled up with petrol (not 2stroke) got 500ml of oil from asda £3. Started 2nd pull. Had to restart 7or 8 times before oil cutout stopped engine. Now works ok. Runs fridge/freezer and bed blanket not the microwave o s---. Quieter than I thought it might be.A lot quieter that my log splitter.
Just thought I would let you all know!

Broken Link Removed

One of our 2 x Aldi stores in P/boro, had a pile of eight available yesterday, so some stores are getting more than others.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

They cant be converted according to ebay seller in link :(

Are you sure?. The gas conversion kit would seem to be generic?. I suppose the best route would be to E-Mail them?. If you where serious, I suspect they are very similar to many already on the market.

I have emailed them, they said no it can't be done. Doesn't really matter but would of been nice.

If I dug a pit here, It would be full of water inside half an hour!. The water table is ON the table (almost).
So is ours.....I installed a submersible pump.

The float failed on the pump so I turn it on about an hour before needing the pit and wait for it to empty the estimated 3000 litres of water.
Pain in the ass but this is the second pump float failure.

since 2006 ( I think ! )
WAY off topic, but PJ has just jogged a long forgotten memory..

My uncle lived in Collier Row Romford, at the bottom of the hill there.
He was a total petrol head and had a lovely big double garage ..

He asked my dad to help him dig out a pit so he could work more easily on his hobby cars ( he collected old MG's )
So it was arranged that we ( Mum, dad and me as a young un ) would stay over at their house for a weekend to get it done.
Early Saturday morning Uncle Pete and my dad were out there digging the hole..
There was a little water seepage as they got lower, so my uncle had a brain wave and contacted the local scrap yard. He bought a huge old water tank !
It was delivered that same afternoon and somehow was manhandled in to the pit.
By about 9pm that evening the job was all done and the cars put back in the garage.

Sunday morning and the major oops was revealed !!
During the night the water had kept on seeping in, but now of course the water tank stopped it filling the hole..

Instead, the tank had become a boat and had simply floated up and jammed under the car !!!

To this day I have absolutely NO idea how the car was got off its perch.. I do remember frantic jacking up going on but as fast as the car was raised so the tank raised with it !
