I guess the best way to set it up is to have a clamp on thermometer either side of the boiler, too slow on the pump and the water will come back cold meaning the last radiator's will be cold, too high could make the boiler cycle too much, in the absence of thermometers a hand may work.

EDIT
the Alde 3020 instructions say No3 for a motorhome.

Going by the image you've put up, you're asking whether to select 'Cont' or 'Thermo'. You should always use 'Thermo' for normal purposes so the pump runs when heating is required. The 'Cont' setting is for testing or maintenance.

BUT, if like me you have a heat exchanger that you can use to heat the water using the heat from the engine then you need to put it on continuous for that.
Ours works the heating and hot water via the heat exchanger on the thermostat setting, stops you getting too hot, set it up but just don't turn on the gas.

The trouble with that is that when the temperature in the van reaches it set level the pump stops working and there is no way to get the heat from the heat exchanger to the boiler to heat the water. That is why our instructions says use continuous setting.

Correct, I suppose you could open the windows if it gets too hot.
