Hi all ,
I have an alarm in my old 1999 flair,
Going to Portugal in sept and was thinking I may need to have it working,
I have no idea how to turn it on,
Were they factory fitted,
Any help appreciated
Mick

Hi Mick

I think the simple answer is, possibly possibly not, some N+B vans came over the water with factory fitted alarms but not Thatcham approved of course so some were never used and another system was fitted, others were used, is it it the alarm fob with buttons for opening doors and lockers? a photo might help.

If its that's old its probably useless anyway. Does anyone take any notice? IMO a safe is a better bet.

No fob,
i saw alarm on the panel for checking water levels etc,
I was afraid to go near it in case I set it off and could not turn off,
Prob like the cab air con ,not working and best left alone,
Their is a safe under the floor that looks well fitted and I have a key,
The side door lock is extremely difficult to open when I lock it so must do something there as well,
The joys of motoring,
But I love it all the same ,
Will post up photos when I have new decals fitted next week,
Thanks for all info,
It’s brilliant to get all advise ,

I don't think the "alarm" button is anything to do with a vehicle alarm, it might be to silence and alarm for low battery or low water level. When we bought our Flair the cab air con didn't work but that was because the pump was seized, I got that fized and all was OK for 6 or 7 years and the it packed up again but that was just a leak on one of the hoses so a replacement hose from IVECO and a regas sorted it out.

Got any pictures of the bits? I retired last year but spent 32 years from the age of 28 fitting motorhome alarms and removing dealer and factory fitted car alarms, so I may be able to recognise what’s fitted

The water level indicators even on new stuff are an indication at best, but pressing the button is unlikely to do any harm. The other jobs, just make a list and work your way though it as time and mo ney allows. The door latch probaly just needs some wd40 followed by a bit of white grease

If you have the PC540 HY panel, the "alarm" was an optional fit so you most likely don't have it, press the button anyway, preferably on a busy campsite

That seems to work on lock ok ,
Thanks for that,
Air con next,
Not too worried about alarm,
Won’t leave them anything to take !!
And I don’t think a 1999 van is on the top of list of vans to steal !!!

True, even though the quality is probably better than many new ones.

I had a slight drip on my 20 year old kitchen mixer tap, because it was Grohe I managed to find a replacement seal kit for about £10 which took me a couple of hours to fit and problem was solved.
