If you have an iPad or iPhone the best resource for the most Aires with reviews and details is the App at - www.campercontact.com

I read to the bottom!

Treat life as a learning curve,we make mistakes as we go! But learn from them.
As I am on my own I always have plan A ,plus plan B just in case.

I hope you have many years of M/ H.

I think you were very unlucky to find an Aire that was noisy on your first trip, in our experience it's very unusual. As for the travellers we did once have them arrive at an Aire we were on but within half an hour the Gendarmes had taken action to evict them.

Our first trip to france this year we stayed the first 7 nights on different aires as we travelled down to the Pyrenees for Le Tour. Paid nothing at most of them but bought stuff in shops etc.

Only stayed on sites the last 3 nights as the heat was getting to us and we stayed at sites with pools for the luxury of it!

Particularly liked the aire at Fleurance.

A good thing for washing clothes etc we found was that lots of Intermarche supermarkets had coin outdoor launderettes (Laveries) and we could eat some lunch while clothes washed and dried as they were very fast.

Ah! The signature is the name of my business (see web address below).

Thanks for all the replies and input. I'm glad that we persevered with the aires. The more we used them then the more confident we became. The aire at St. Maries De La Mer was better than some campsites we have stayed on.

I think that the general rule is (for us anyway) aires when we are on the move and campsites when we want to stay two or three days.

Most of the Aires we found were fine.glad we didn't,t have to suffer the youths it would have put us off.

We stayed over night by the river at Treguier last week. No youths late at night but a load of work vans of some sort met there at about 6.30 in morning to have a loud chat and sort themselves out before setting off to wherever they were going.

No big deal though, wouldn't put us off staying there again. It's quite a nice little town.
