Anyone recommend any good campsites or aires near to ferry port in Caen ?

We stayed at the aire at Dives sur Mer this year. If you can get in it should be ideal as it has hard standing. Normal service point but no EHU. Within walking distance of the port and marina where there are a few bars/restaurants.

We stayed at Pont d' Ouilly at an aire that was open all year. It is an hour (max) from Caen (Ouestreham). It was €10 per night including EHU and water.

We always stay at a lovely little free aire in a village called, I think Herouvillete. It's only a few minutes from the ferry port and close to a boulangerie. Apologies if I have spelt the name wrongly but it's only a few km away

We used to stay at the paid for aire just beside the ferry port. But for the last 2 years we have used the free aire at Hermanville sur Mer, which is just a 10 minute drive from Caen Ferry. Nice tiny town with a British War Cemetery where we always visit to pay our respects.

We have stayed at the aire next to the port a couple of times also Herouvillete and our favourite, if you can get a space, is Merville Franceville.
We’ve never used the Caen ferry but it’s a half way stop for us from Calais to home.

A nice campsite around €10 a night would do it’s just for a 1 or 2 nights stopover, next year

Very much doubt you'll find a campsite around there for that price. :) ACSI has a few on the coast at €18 and an inland one at €16. Next year might be a Euro more perhaps. These are off season prices, they opened in April.

Google maps will find sites for you. Just zoom into the area and put "Camping" in the search field.

Campercontact and Searchforsites shows plenty in the area.

We always stay at Hermanville, it’s about 5km from the ferry port.

Our nighttime spot of choice is the car park at Lion sur Mer.
Not strictly an Aire but motorhomes are allowed to park there from 8pm to 10.00am the next morning.
It's about 4kms along the coast from the ferry port (turn first right out of the Port). Far enough away to not present opportunities for stowaways, but ideal for arrivals on the afternoon ferry out of Portsmouth.

We stop over at Rots it's a huge supermarket carpark with water and dump point.... Freeby

Another vote for Pont D'Ouilly only 12 or 15€ for 2 nights. Special deal. I think it closes for December, it certainly did last year. I've parked below William the Conqueror's castle at Falaise, a couple of times. No facilities but you can have a look at the chateau, only about 30 miles from Caen.
