aire south of le mans (1 Viewer)

Hi does anyone know of a good aire about 300 miles south of le mans heading towards Biarritz cheers Rod

Yes we have - the aire de stationnement by the river right by the Chateau - not the aire d'accueil that's a campsite - Pete said it's where we had a really nice lunch, which was at a small hotel on the opposite side of the rd to the Netto supermarket. We ate outside on the terrace as it was a lovely warm day, but the indoor bar/restaurant is reasonably large and it's all very well appointed. 3 courses for about €11 and absolutely delish.

I st at the aire every year, it's great nice walks, you can also swim in the river and there is a swimming pool 5 mins away, couple of nice restraunts and a fantastic patisserie across the road. ️

This may not appear too helpful but 300 miles south of Le Mans takes you to within less than 30 miles of Biarritz (as the proverbial Corbeau flies). Perhaps Funsters know of more options around Biarritz? We were in that area a couple of years ago and did not find too many aires adjacent (but we were looking for free or cheap ones - Biarritz is an expensive area!
According to CC-Infos, there are a couple of aires at/around Dax but we did not use either.

Around Biarritz the Anglet and La Barre (both shown as 'Anglet' on CCI) aires are open all year. Same for Ave de Milady (south of the town) which has EHU.

They're 400 miles from Le Mans though.

Our usual plan for reaching Biarritz is Calais to Futuroscope (Jaunay-Clan), around 400 miles, then Futuroscope to Anglet, around 300 miles.

As I recall, the aire in St Jean de Luz is quite compact and next to a busy road near the town centre. A quieter alternative, albeit a small one, is the aire by the rail station at Hendaye. The trains go to St Jean fairly regularly.

Hi thanks for that we only need a stop over on our way to Benidorm so all of those options are ok happy travels Rod

Ondres Plage on the coast, free in winter and loads of room but no services should you need them. We always use this one then jump onto the A63 heading for Espana and at the service area Bidart there is a dump with water, should this be unusable (as we have found sometimes) use the toilet block near by.
